Product description The 16TB Promise VTrak E-Class 16x 1TB SATA RAID Subsystem from Apple is a high-performance RAID storage system. The system is housed in a 3U rackmount chassis, making it ideal for professional video use. It features four 4Gbs SFP Fibre-Channel ports for computer connectivity.
The RAID system features dual controllers with 2GB DDR ECC RAID cache, an SAS expansion port, a Gigabit Ethernet port, and a serial management port. The full gamut of RAID levels are supported, and management is built into the device. The VTrak is compatible with Leopard and Leopard Server. It is fully qualified for use with Xsan 2 and Final Cut Studio 2. - Apple Xsan 2 and Final Cut Studio 2 Qualified
- The RAID system is fully qualified for use with Xsan 2 and Final Cut Studio 2 from Apple. The VTrak features dual active/active controllers with automatic Fail over/Fail back capabilities, making it suitable for use for mission-critical storage. The system has been tested by Apple to ensure compatibility with their software.
- Active/Active Controllers and I/O Modules
- The VTrak features fully redundant, active/active hot-swappable RAID controllers. It also features load balanced power and cooling units for the ultimate in reliability. All components are actively monitored, ensuring that a system administrator is alerted in the event of any hardware failure or malfunction.
- 4Gb Fibre-Channel SAN Performance and Reliability
- The system includes dual controllers, each with two Fibre-Channel ports. The array supports full auto negotiation functionality, allowing you to use it to add capacity to an existing Xserve RAID installation.
- SAS and SATA Hard Drive Support
- The RAID can support SAS and SATA drives. SATA drives are a perfect match for video editing, which requires large sequential data transfers. SAS drives are ideal for applications that require efficient random access to many small files, such as databases and web commerce.
- VTrak Expansion Chassis
- The VTrak E-Class RAID subsystem supports the addition of an expansion chassis. This chassis, the VTrak J-Class system, can be used to double the capacity of the array.
- Simple Installation and Management
- The RAID features integrated management tools via a browser-based interface. WebPAM PROe eliminates the need to install additional software to monitor the RAID: simply log into the RAID via a web browser.
