Product description With a 1.1 GHz Six-Core processor, the Vess 48TB R2610i 16-Bay NAS Server from Promise Technology has the processing power necessary to meet the growing challenges of unstructured data for SMBs that need an archiving solution for large amounts of storage. It supports on-demand expansion and is well-suited for cloud data centers, plus its unified storage helps streamline administrations and increase flexibility. It can also serve as a dynamic solution for video surveillance. Accompanying the six-core processor is 16GB of cache to help ensure multiple tasks can be carried out without causing the system to lag. The Vess R2610i is equipped with a single controller, four 1Gb iSCSO ports, and comes pre-populated with sixteen 3TB 3.5" SAS hard drives for a total storage capacity of 48TB. This storage can be configured RAID 0, 1, 1E, 3, 5, 6, 10 (0+1), 30, 50, and 60 for data redundancy, performance, or a combination of both. Using the Vess J2610s expansion unit, the number of supported drives is scalable up to 112, and each drive bay on the R2610i and J2610s can support 6 Gb/s or 3 Gb/s SAS or SATA hard drives.
The Vess R2610i is powered by three redundant 250W power supplies with battery backup units that operate using 90-264 VAC at 50-60 Hz. Cooling is accomplished using dual non-swappable fans and the supported operating systems are Windows Server 2012R2/2012, 2008R2/2008, and 2003, RedHat Linux, SuSE Linux, Ubuntu, CentOS, and Apple OS X. Included is an RJ11 to DB9 serial data cable and power cords. General Features - iSCSI + NAS
- The Vess R2610 series provides combined iSCSI and NAS features which enable users to do file and block-based data transaction on the network. iSCSI allows the SCSI protocol to operate over TCP/IP and is getting more popular in various IP-based applications, as you can leverage existing network infrastructure to achieve SAN connectivity. NAS devices are easy to deploy and suited for file sharing over the network. Files on a NAS are transparent to users and applications, and its access convenience greatly reduces users' learning curve on how to download and upload data to the storage.
- Perfect Rebuild
- The new PerfectRebuild feature is an approach to rebuilding a RAID array to reduce the amount of time needed for completion. This frees up CPU resources more quickly to be available for I/O and other demands. PerfectRebuild ignores any portion of the LD where no write changes have occurred, focusing only on the parts that have changed. The conventional approach has been to rebuild the entire LD, even sections with no write changes. This reduction in the total time needed for a rebuild is especially significant for very large drives.
- Battery Flash Backup
- Use the BBU and flash modules for increased data protection in the event of power loss. High performance RAID arrays operating in write-back mode present a write loss risk in the event of a power loss. Since data is considered committed as soon as the controller has received it in cache memory, it will be lost if power is interrupted. The conventional solution is to use a BBU to maintain the RAID cache for 72 hours. A better solution is to use the BBU module to flush the write cache data (held in DDR3 DIMM) to non-volatile NAND flash memory, the flash module, in addition to the normal 72 hour BBU backup of the RAID cache.
- Security
- A Network Video Recorder (NVR) is an IP-based digital video recording system designed to operate 24/7, 365 days a year with non-stop A/V recording. This application demands reliable, scalable, and consolidated storage with simplified management capabilities. The Vess R2610 series now offers a wide interoperable and flexible solution to ease the archiving complexity among heterogeneous recording platforms in a networked surveillance environment. With the upgrade, users have more options to manage their storage. The integration and management becomes less of an issue and you get the benefits of either SAN or NAS with the economy and convenience of Ethernet.
