Product description The VTrak A-Class VTA38HFDM6 Turnkey 48TB (24 x 2TB) SAN Filesystem Solution from Promise Technology is a scale-out shared SAN that is designed for rich media integrated appliance and post-production/broadcast work. While it is compatible with Mac, Windows, and Linux, this model includes 5 Mac OS X client licenses and four file system licenses. Additionally, Linux client support will be released in a future firmware update.
This SAN has a 4U rackmount form factor and a 48TB capacity that is comprised of 24 x 2TB SAS 6 Gb/s drives. Each of the 2TB drives also has a 3.5" form factor and a 7200 rpm rotational speed. Host connectivity is supported using an 8 x 8G fiber channel, which is made up of dual 4-port controllers with an 8GB cache per controller. There are also dual metadata servers/RAID controllers and RAID support is included for RAID 0, 1, 1E, 5, 6, 10, 50, and 60. There is also an embedded web management tool that uses WebPAM PROe (Ethernet), Command Line Interface (CLI) or Command Line Utility (serial port or Ethernet via telnet, SSH), and Third Party Management support via SNMP and CIM.
For those who wish to expand this SAN, its expansion capabilities will allow cascading of up to 9 JBODs per RAID unit with up to 8 storage nodes for a total of 1,920 HDDs. Included with this SAN are two power cords and a 4U rackmount kit. - High availability design for no single point of failure
