Product description The Radial Engineering JDX 500 Reactor Speaker Simulator Module is a guitar amplifier interface that captures the combined effect of an amplifier and speaker cabinet. It emulates the sound of a 4x12 guitar amplifier speaker by way of a multi-stage filtering mechanism and can also be used for direct instrument recording. There’s also a Guitar Mode on the JDX 500 Reactor Module that allows you to bypass amplifiers and speakers altogether. Just plug in a guitar via effect pedals and then output directly to your recording equipment—the filtering mechanism does all the hard work. When used with an amplifier and speaker, it captures the tone of the sound delivered from the amp head as well as the electromagnetic pulse generated by the speaker using a reactive load. The module then processes the signal and emulates the sound of a 4x12 half-stack, which can be directly output to a recording system, eliminating the need to set up or move amplifiers, microphones, and other studio equipment. Also included is a variable low-pass filter control that lets you adjust the tone and add more lower frequencies to the sound being generated. This will enable you to lend more warmth to the sound from amplifiers that lean towards the higher end of the frequency range. You can also use a mic to record alongside the JDX 500 Emulator—the module has a 180° polarity reverse mode that inverts its output to align polarities with the microphone’s signal. This lets you combine the two signals easily while mixing. There’s also a Low Frequency Extension feature that extends the frequency response from 200 to 100Hz and adds more bass to the sound. The JDX 500 Reactor Module is encased in a fully shielded steel case and can be installed in the Radial Workhorse or other 500 series module power packs. Note: The JDX module is not a load box. It must be connected to a speaker or load box when used with a guitar amp head. - Emulates 4x12 half-stack amplifier tone, eliminating the need to set up amplifiers and microphones
- Employs reactive load to capture sound from amplifier head and cabinet
- Guitar Mode changes the input sensitivity to allow an instrument to be connected directly to the JDX for quiet recording without an amplifier or microphones 1
Please Note: Use guitar cables to connect. close - 180° polarity reverse mode inverts signals to let you combine the output with mic output while mixing
- Variable low-pass filter to adjust tone for added bass
- Low Frequency Extension feature lowers the bass frequency cut-off from 200 to 100 Hz
- Works with both electric and bass guitar
- Works with high-output guitar and bass amplifiers (up to 300W)
- Steel casing reduces electromagnetic interference from nearby modules; steel shaft and retention nut for added mechanical stress resistance
- Ground Lift feature that works with the transformer isolation to help eliminate hum and noise caused by ground loops
- Omniport: Rear mounted TRS is a Lo-Z balanced direct box output designed to feed a mixer or microphone preamp
- Parallel 1/4" I/O Jack: When installed in the Radial Workhorse the standard balanced input and output connections are enhanced with parallel 1/4" TRS jacks and D-sub connectors
- Double-sided gold-plated 15-pin card edge connector ensures good conductivity and signal transfer
- 100% discrete electronics for optimal signal transfer
- Radial push switches with metal outer casing; rated at over 20,000 cycles
- Steel double layer front panel reduces stress on the PC board
- Mil spec circuit board features double-sided PCB and full ground plane ensures low noise and greater durability
