Product description The Radial Engineering PhazeQ 500 Phase Alignment Tool & Filter Module is a dual-function 500-series device. As a phase alignment tool, it is used to time-align 2 microphones for greater clarity and realism. It also behaves like a powerful EQ that lets you create exciting new tones that will set your recordings apart. Designed to work with the Radial Workhorse and other 500-series racks, the PhazeQ Tool features 100% discreet class-A electronics for a warm, rich, and natural tone. A single control lets you adjust the phase shift from 0 to 180° and clever application of a 180° polarity reverse extends the range to a full 360°. To further focus the effect on the fundamentals, a low-pass filter can be engaged to remove high-frequency content. This is split into 2 ranges for added precision. The applications are diverse: a close mic and a distant room mic on a guitar amplifier, an XY pair on an acoustic guitar, the batter head and outside of a kick drum, or combining a mic'd bass cabinet with a direct feed. The PhazeQ differs from the original Phazer with the addition of a wet-dry blend control. It takes a single source and splits the signal so that you can combine the original sound with the phase-shifted signal to deliver an all-new type of EQ. As a phase adjustment tool, your recordings will attain realism. As an EQ, you can easily orchestrate tracks. The powerful PhazeQ will ultimately allow you to expand your creative palette as you enter the world of analog phase experimentation. General - Phase align any two signals for natural tone
- Create exciting radical EQ curves
- 100% discreet analog with class-A circuitry
- Variable low-pass filter to focus fundamentals
Controls - Blend switch is used to control the mix between the original dry signal and the wet phased effect
- Phase Shift knob adjusts the analog phase shift from 0 to 180° when rotated clockwise
- Invert switch reverses the polarity of the wet signal to extend the phase shift from 180 to 360°
- Phaze On bypass button with LED indicator lets you switch off the phase shift effect to compare sounds
- Filter knob lets you apply a low-pass filter on the phased signal to focus the effect on the bass frequencies
- Shift switch extends the filter range from 3-38 kHz to 300Hz-3.8 kHz to better focus the effect of the filter
- Shift On bypass button with LED indicator lets you switch off the filter to compare the effect it has on the signal path
- Omniport is a dry track output is used to feed other devices when used with the Radial Workhorse
Construction and Design - Double-layer steel front panel adds rigidity to reduce stress on the PC board
- Radial push switches feature an extra durable metal outer casing and are rated at over 20,000 cycles for added durability
- Double-sided gold-plated 15-pin card edge ensures positive connection to the receptacle for improved mating
- Mil-spec circuit board features double-sided PCB and full ground plane to assure low noise and durability
- Dual potentiometers double up solder points for durability, and steel casing with steel shaft and retention nut will not bend when under stress
