Product description The Radial Engineering Q3 Induction Coil EQ has been formatted to fit the popular 500 series format and the Radial Workhorse. It is designed to accentuate the character of a voice or instrument without introducing the artifacts and phase anomalies commonly associated with typical gyrator (resistor-capacitor) equalizer circuits.The Q3 features 4 easy-to-use controls: top-end boost, mid-range cut, low-frequency bass boost, and gain make-up to offset the signal loss that occurs when using passive equalization. Each of the 3 EQ bands employs a 12-position Grayhill switch with a different preset curve at each position. These are carefully crafted to introduce subtle accents, huge hype, and warm-sounding cuts that will flatter and enthrall.Each EQ setting is augmented with a miniature toggle switch that enables you to attenuate the curve for more subtle effects, delivering over 10,000 combinations of tonal bliss. And because presets are employed, it is easy to recreate favorite patches by setting the dials with easy-to-remember 3-number combinations.Adapted for use with the Radial Workhorse and older API Lunchbox racks, the Q3 Induction Coil EQ is plug-and-play and easy to use. Simply feed it with a balanced line-level signal and you are set to go. When connected to a Workhorse, the Omniport is assigned as an effects loop to allow various processing devices to be inserted into the EQ signal chain. - High Boost
- A 12-position Grayhill switch features a wide variety of high-frequency preset curves designed to add clarity, shimmer, and presence to the voice on instrument.
- Shift
- Changes the amplitude of the preset curve to reduce the effect on the signal.
- Mid Cut
- A 12-position GRayhill switch presents an array of 11 preset curves, most of which are designed to cut mid frequencies where the human ear is very sensitive.
- Bass Boost
- A 12-position Grayhill switch is outfitted with 11 preset curves designed to boost bass and add warmth, body, and punch to the audio track.
- HPF
- The HPF (High Pass Filter) helps clean up excessive bottom end that can cause resonant feedback on a live stage or clutter up the bottom end of a track when tracking.
- Gain
- Features adjustable level control that provides gain make-up after the audio signal passes through the indicator coil circuit.
- On
- This switch lets you compare the original program material with the effect introduced by the passive inductor coil EQ circuit.
- Omniport
- Assigned as effects send and return, the Omniport uses a standard 1/4" TRS connector with tip-send, ring-receive.
- 100% Discrete Electronics
- Q3 employs full-size through-hole discrete electronics for optimal signal transfer. Parts are selected by hand.
- Military Grade
- A 12-position Grayhill switch features gold contacts and a steel shaft for years of trouble-free performance.
- Double-Layer Front Panel
- Steel construction adds rigidity to reduce stress on the PC board.
- Radial Push Switches
- Radial switches feature a durable metal outer casing and are rated at over 20,000 cycles for added durability.
- Dual Potentiometers
- Doubled-up solder points for greater durability. Steel casing with steel shaft and retention nut will not bend when under stress.
- Mil-Spec Circuit Board
- Features double-sided PCB and full ground plane to assure lowest possible noise and greater durability for years of trouble-free performance.
- Gold-Plated 15-Pin Card Edge
- Double sided to ensure positive connection to the receptacle for improved mating.
- Inductor Coils
- Nine different coils are used to create the many preset EQ curves.
- Applications
- When used in a channel strip, the Q3 is all about bringing fat tones and excitement to your music. Combine the Q3 with a PowerPre EQ and Komit compressor to create a functional channel strip. Adjust the lows, smooth out the mids, and add shimmer to the highs. Get amazing sound from a vocal microphone by combining the warmth of a PowerTube with the excitement of the Q3 when you use the Q3 Live as a gold channel. Add an EXTC for special effects. Adding extra spark to an acoustic or more punch to a bass are the hallmarks of great-sounding, memorable recordings. The Q3's preset curves make it easy to find and recreate magical signature curves. Just dial in your favorite 3-11-4 combination and you are good to go.
