Product description The TTS56-A Active Subwoofer from RCF is a powered subwoofer designed for touring sound reinforcement applications in large-scale venues such as stadiums or arenas. It features dual 3,400-watt digital amplifiers for a combined 6,800-watts RMS performance, providing up to 145 dB SPL. The TTS56-A also has 96 kHz/32-bit DSP control for time delay and remote monitoring use. Additionally, it provides presets for cardioid grouping with up to 2 other units. - 2 Seperated Channels
- 2 separate channels with independent power supplies have been provided to ensure efficiency levels and reliability for extensive use of the subwoofer during tours
- 32-bit Floating Point DSP
- The amplifier integrates a 32-bit floating point DSP controlled through RCF's RDNet Protocol that manages crossover, equalization, time alignment and protections.
The compressor/limiter circuit on board prevents the amplifiers from clipping and avoids overdriving the transducers - Low Noise
- Ultra low noise AD converters ensure the sound quality at the high output required for large events
- 6 Internal Fans
- 6 fans and a vented aluminum rear panel assure thermal dissipation
- Vented Aluminum Panel
- The amplifier is housed on a Vibrostop floating aluminum panel for extra protection during transportation
- Input/Output
-
- XLR Input (Balanced & Unbalanced): The system accept female XLR input connectors and line-level signals from a mixing console or other signal source
- Crossover Signal Output: The output XLR male connector provides a crossover high passed signal (24 dB/octave) for satellite speakers
- Signal Link XLR Output: The output XLR male connector provides a loop through for speakers daisy chaining
- Data Input & Link Ethercon Connectors: The system is equipped with an RDNet connection on board to receive status information of the system and to send commands to the system
- Power Panel: A separate power panel with Powercon AC connector is provided for the maximum flexibility in case a different connector must be installed
- Input Board: The TTS56-A amplifier's input board includes all the controls to configure the system for every situation even from remote thanks to the Ethercon port and the RCF exclusive RDNet protocol and control software
- Voice Coil
- The 4.5" inside/outside voice coil is wounded on a fiberglass former for efficient cooling. The former is internally and externally reinforced with Nomex that stiffen the overall structure for a better energy transfer between the voice coil and the body cone
- Hyper Ventilation System
- In order to dissipate the heat generated by the 4.5" voice coil, RCF engineers have developed a ventilation system that offers thermal dissipation and low power compression. The Hyper Ventilation System is the result of a complex combination of holes in the voice coil former, the magnetic structure, and the woofer basket. In fact, thanks to the large excursion of the cone, the great amount of air generated is directed through the holes creating a very high level of turbulence that keeps the transducer cooler without using a forced ventilation system. With the strength of the voice coil former, obtained with the double Nomex layer, RCF engineers were able to make bigger holes without compromising the structure stiffness, therefore allowing the passage of a greater quantity of air, which would have not been possible with standard formers
- Carbon Fiber Cone
- The cone is composed of 30% carbon fiber, 20% fiberglass and 50% cellulose pulp. This particular chemical composition has been carefully developed to improve the robustness and rigidness of the cone avoiding any deformation that would result in a loss of efficiency
- Double Silicon Spider
- The structure has been realized with 3 layers. The central layer is made of silicon, the only material able to maintain the memory of its shape. This particular structure assures the efficiency of the suspension even after a long period of extensive use
- Water-Resistant Birch
- The cabinet is made of Baltic Birch plywood, with every layer glued with a water resistant adhesive that makes the cabinet completely waterproof
- Polyurea Paint
- The paint department inside RCF's factory in Italy utilizes a special polyurea paint to create a thick, full coating on the cabinet, making it resistant to scratches and bumps
- Reinforced Grille
- The front grille integrates a central reinforcement bar and is power coated. A transparent-to-sound foam backing on the inside of the grille helps to further protect the transducers from dust
- Internal Structure
- The internal structure of the cabinet is heavily braced to survive long term use and transportation. It presents two separate acoustic chambers for the woofers and a separate housing for the amplifier for efficiency and reliability.
- Locking Points
- The front of the cabinet integrates two locking points to insert and fix the wood protection cover that has been specially designed to protect the subwoofer during transportation
- Rubber Feet
- At the bottom 4 reinforced rubber feet ensure stability even at the most extreme volume levels.
4 powder coated aluminum slots are provided on the top to perfectly pile up other TTS56-A subs in stacking configuration - Handles
- The TTS56-A is equipped with 6 handles (3 per side) made in powder coated aluminum. The handles have an ergonomic rubber hand grip to better grab the cabinet and are positioned to facilitate the transport, positioning and loading operations
- Steel Bars
- The back of the cabinet features two steel bars for fork-lift transportation that preserves the cabinet from being scratched
- Wheels
- 4 threaded steel swivel wheels with high resistance rubber allows for an incredibly smooth maneuverability on any surface
- Setup and Configuration
-
- Input Sensitivity: This rotary switch controls the overall signal level at the input to the power amplifier
- XLOW Cut 30/45Hz: This switch provides a high pass 24 dB/octave filtering at 30 or 45Hz. This setting is for indoor situations or when all the power shall be used in the 45 Hz - 100 Hz range
- XOVER 60/90Hz: It provides either a 24 dB/octave low-pass filtering at 60 Hz or 90Hz. The same crossover frequency in high pass is available from Xover Output XLR
- Time Delay Encoder: Provides a time delay setting expressed in meters
- Time Delay Display: Digital display that shows the Time Delay setting
- 4 System Status Indicators: Power, status, signal, and limiter
- Cardioid Set Up: This switch provides a special equalization and delay setting to create a cardioid pattern when the system is used in conjunction with two other TTS56-A modules
- Link and Active LEDs: Indicates when the module is addressed and configured from the RDNet controller
- RDNet Bypass: Pressing this switch bypasses the RDNet user setting preloaded on the module. When the RDNet controller is not connected, the by-pass switch act as follow:
By-Pass Switch pressed (LED on), the system bypass the input board and reads the last RDNet setting configuration saved; By-Pass Switch released (LED off), the system reads the input board and by-pass the user setting eventually loaded on the speaker - RDNet Configuration: The TTS56-A is equipped with a RDNet connection on board. By using the RDNet Controller Unit is possible to:
Receive status information from the system (amplifiers status, signal levels, system settings, etc) send commands to the system (mute, solo, change sensitivity, change setting, set user equalization, etc) - Cardioid Setup: The TTS56-A allows creating cardioid systems using groups of three stacked modules. Two modules must point in forward direction with the cardioid switch released. The central module must fire backward with the cardioid switch pressed. It is important that all three modules have the same settings (system delay, sensitivity, x-low cut, xover, etc)
