Product description

Time-Lapse Tips and Tools Read More This Really Right Stuff Add-On Pano Package consists of three modular components, a CB-10 Camera Bar, a PG-02 Vertical Arm, and a B2-LR-II Lever-Release Clamp. Along with a separately-available leveling base, rotary base, and Arca-type rail that can accommodate a camera with a lens, the Add-On Pano Package helps provide the ability to capture a sequence of images for creating single- or multi-row panoramas that are free of stitching artifacts.

Three countersunk screws firmly attach the lever-release clamp along the top of the vertical arm, which features a bottom-facing Arca-type clamp. When the Really Right Stuff Add-On Pano Package is assembled for use, the vertical arm's bottom-facing Arca-type clamp is fastened to the top surface of the camera bar. The lever-release clamp faces sideways, so that it can hold an Arca-type rail with a camera and lens above and perpendicular to the camera bar.

An Arca-type rail with a camera and lens can be attached to, removed from, or moved within the lever-release clamp by using the lever-release clamp's push-and-pull cam lock lever. Similarly, the locking knob for the vertical arm's bottom-facing Arca-type clamp can be loosened, allowing the vertical arm to slide along the length of the camera bar, which itself can be adjusted backwards or forwards within an Arca-type rotary base or tripod head before it is also locked into place. Together, these three movements enable precise positioning of a camera lens's entrance pupil above the rotary axis of the device being used to incrementally turn the camera during the process of capturing a panorama's overlapping component images. By aligning the entrance pupil of the lens and the rotary axis within a panoramic photo system, the relative positions of foreground and background objects that appear among sequential images for a panorama remain consistent. Those sequential images can then be joined by seamlessly overlapping those repeating foreground and background objects, allowing lines and elements that extend throughout the finished panorama to appear unbroken and true to life.

When installing or moving an Arca-type rail for a camera and lens within the lever-release clamp, the rail can be precisely positioned using the 60mm center-finder rulers that are engraved on two sides of the clamp to maintain visibility. Similarly, an engraved 24cm center-finder ruler on the top surface of the camera bar allows the position of the vertical arm to be recorded, as well as the position of the camera bar relative to the Arca-type rotary base or tripod head it is placed on. Specific camera and lens configurations with an entrance pupil correctly located above a rotary axis can then be quickly and reliably repeated.

At the side of the vertical arm opposite the lever-release clamp is a locking knob that can be loosened, allowing the lever-release clamp to be rotated 360° along increments that are engraved for every 2.5°. An Arca-type rail with a camera and lens within the lever-release clamp can then be tilted backwards and forwards, enabling multi-row or spherical panoramas that dramatically increase the amount of potential area or detail which can be captured.

Each component included with the Really Right Stuff Add-On Pano Package is constructed using 6061-T6 aluminum alloy for durability, while remaining lightweight. Both the camera bar and vertical arm have built-in bubble levels and are tapped with female accessory threads for direct attachment of accessories that feature corresponding mounts. At the top surface of the vertical arm are four 1/4"-20 female accessory threads and one 3/8"-16 female accessory thread. The camera bar's top surface provides one 3/8"-16 female accessory thread and five 1/4"-20 female accessory threads, in addition to an end-facing 1/4"-20 female accessory thread that points away from the camera bar's right side when the numbers on its center-finder ruler are correctly oriented to the user.
