Product description 7 All-In-One Portable Speaker Systems for Special Events and Parties Read More The Speakeasy v3b from Remote Audio is a self-contained, battery-powered speaker system with mic, line, and instrument level inputs for production sound applications. The Speakeasy v3b speaker system has 2 combo input jacks and a front master volume control/power switch. Its drivers are magnetically shielded, allowing operation near sensitive equipment. Compact Enclosure - The Speakeasy v3b is housed in a cast aluminum enclosure with a durable black finish and weighs less than 5 lb (2.2kg). This unit is small enough to hide on set and rugged enough to pack in a case with the rest of your gear.
Flexible Inputs - The unit features 2 combo jacks for connecting mic, line, or instrument level inputs on the rear panel. The inputs are isolated from one another so they can be used at the same time.
Line Level Input - The line level input is used for balanced signals of +4 dB, though unbalanced signals may also be used. With proper signal strength, the Speakeasy v3b's maximum loudness before clipping is achieved with the volume control at the 12 o'clock position. An XLR / 1/4" TRS combo jack is provided for convenience, and is wired in the standard balanced configuration of Pin 1/Sleeve: Ground, Pin 2/Tip: Audio Hot (+), and Pin 3/Ring: Audio Cold (-).
Microphone Level Input - The XLR mic level input will accept a balanced mic level signal, and will directly accommodate a dynamic microphone. The microphone trim provides up to 40 dB of amplification. The microphone input is accessible on the rear panel with a small, flat-bladed screwdriver. 1
Please Note: Powering for condenser microphones is not available. close Instrument Level Input - The Speakeasy v3b will accommodate an unbalanced instrument-level signal on a 1/4" TS connector. The impedance of this input is 1 MΩ, which is suitable for use with passive electric guitar pickups or active guitar preamp systems without loading down the pickups and causing high-frequency roll-off. 2
Please Note: Instruments with very hot outputs, such as electric guitars with overwound humbucker pickups, may cause distortion. In that case, the guitar's volume control should be adjusted to minimize distortion. close Efficient Power - With two 9V batteries, the Speakeasy v3b speaker can operate for a full production day or more. It can also operate from an external 9 to 18VDC power source that can be connected via a coaxial DC jack (2.1 x 5.5mm, center pin positive) at the rear panel. The internal battery is switched out from the circuit when an external power is plugged in so that there is no need to remove the battery from the speaker when using the external power source. The speaker's 12W amplifier delivers enough volume for monitoring or cueing.
Applications - You can use this speaker on your cart to listen without headphones. It can be placed anywhere on set with a wireless receiver for cueing and stage announcements. It can be planted in a car during tow scenes, so that the director can talk to the actors (when it is used with the Boom Box). You can connect 1 or 2 speakers to your computer or iPod for remote listening and editing. It can be used for monitor programming during remote radio and television broadcasts or can be planted inside a piano for realistic track playback.
