Product description The compact Rocstor 16TB Enteroc PM1300 8-Bay Mobile PCIe 3.0 Storage System comes with eight hard drives inside its bays to provide fast access to your 2K and 4K videos. Each of the drives stores up to 2TB of data, and the drives can provide a total capacity of 16TB to your Windows, Mac, or Linux computer. This storage system lets you RAID configure the drives, and in RAID 5 they offer a read speed up to 1,341 MB/s and a write speed up to 1,151 MB/s. Additionally, it delivers a data bandwidth of 32 Gb/s to your workstation using the included 6.6' (2m) copper cable and Z2M-G3 dual-port HBA PCIe card, which occupies an available PCIe 3.0 x8 slot inside your computer. The Rocstor Enteroc PM1300 is powered with a LSISAS2208 processor and 1GB of DDR3 ECC RAM. It is based on PCIe 3.0 technology and can be utilized as a SAN with an optional PCIe switch. Furthermore, its eight bays can each hold a 2.5" SAS/SATA drive, and you can upgrade a drive while the PM1300 is still running with the hot swapping feature. - Versatile and Lightweight
- The PM1300 is a small and compact unit that fits easily on transportable cart systems for on-set, on-location, or near-set locations, which makes it a suitable solution for DITs while ingesting, copying, and processing post-production work. The PM1300 requires a footprint of less than 1 square foot.
- Performance
- Unlike other small form factor storage, the PM1300 takes full advantage of using the PCI Express protocol throughout the storage path. Since there is no PCIe to FC conversion, which eliminates protocol conversion delays, the 32 Gb/s bandwidth is 32 Gb/s throughout.
- Focus on Content Creation, Not on Storage Speed Limitations
- The PM1300 was developed with the changing workflow in mind where editing work is done closer and closer to where powerful cameras capture content. On-set and on-location are words heard often as producers and directors realize cost and time savings. Powerful and demanding applications require high performance storage, such as the PM1300, to enable completion of dailies and make final decisions before shooting starts the next day. The PM1300 works well with demanding editing applications from companies such as Autodesk, Blackmagic, Assimilate, and IRDAS.
- Built for 4K DPX Workflow
- 2K DPX files for film requires about 300 MB/s where 4K DPX may require up to 1300 MB/s performance from storage. This storage solution can provide 1,341 MB/s reads and 1,151 MB/s writes to play multiple 2K as well as 16 Bit 4K DPX.
- Performance Optimization
- The PM1300 features equalization mode (EQ) that reduces the fluctuation between data transfer speeds over time so the likelihood of potential frame drops are minimized. Another feature called disk lag proof (DLP) computes the RAID algorithm of weakening/failing drives (that may require multiple retries) preventing the data transfer delays caused by the deteriorating drives. This enables the actual data transfer to complete even before the weak drive finishes its tries.
- SAN Compatible
- PM1300 is a cost effective high performance small form factor DAS solution. To create a mobile SAN, the PM1300 can be connected to an optional PCIe 3.0 switch. The separately sold SW08-Q4 switch is especially convenient as it has the same footprint as the PM1300. Client workstations can be connected to the switch and sharing of media files can begin with the aid of SAN management software like SANit 2 file system. Additional RAID systems can be added to the switch for increasing storage capacity if needed.
