Product description The Rode NTG2 Multi-Powered Shotgun Microphone and Auray Fur Windshield Kit from B&H is geared for professional audio capture in outdoor environments. It is ideal for professional applications such as film, video, broadcast TV, and more.The B&H kit features a Rode NTG2 multi-powered condenser shotgun microphone that runs on battery or 48V phantom power, plus the Auray WSS-2014 professional fur windshield that reduces wind noise up to 40 dB. Also included in the kit are a mic clip, a foam windscreen, and a zip case for transporting the microphone. - Rode NTG2 Battery or Phantom Powered Condenser Shotgun Microphone The Rode NTG2 is a condenser shotgun microphone designed for professional audio capturing in the field or indoors. With a history of manufacturing quality studio microphones, Rode has implemented low-noise output electronics and wide frequency bandwidth, both of which attribute to the NTG2's broadcast sound quality.The supercardioid polar pattern and line-plus-gradient acoustic design effectively minimize audio and noise at the off-axis (sides) of the microphone, while the front of the capsule accurately reproduces incoming audio signal. The result is greater intelligibility and signal-to-noise ratio when using the NTG2 in noisy environments.The NTG2 is powered with an internal 1.5V AA battery or an external +48V phantom power source. The output is a standard 3-pin XLR male connector.The microphone features a rugged, all metal, lightweight enclosure that is ideal for camera mounting, yet durable enough to withstand the rigors of heavy road use. They are engineered for dramatic reduction of unwanted broadband wind noise and vocal pops with very little high frequency loss, for exceptionally accurate recordings.
This WSS-2014 Professional Windshield has an inside depth of 14cm and is designed for use with many shotgun microphones. It features a specially manufactured open-cell foam matrix surrounded by a layer of 25mm-thick simulated rabbit fur. This diffusion technology lowers wind velocity in a controlled air space around the microphone, thereby reducing wind noise without muffling the sound. It also features an airtight tapered rubber base that seals out wind from the rear of the microphone, greatly improving isolation and rear wind protection.
When used on a shotgun microphone, this slip-on windshield is effective in minimizing wind noise and plosive sounds. It is most effective in light breeze to strong breeze conditions (4-25 mph) and users can generally expect a 24dB to 40dB reduction in wind noise with negligible dampening of high frequencies. For most applications, the negligible high frequency dampening is a worthwhile exchange for the dramatic wind noise reduction.
