Product description

Having updated and redefined their proprietary Tube Logic modeling technology, Roland's Blues Cube Tour is a 100W amplifier head intended for use with electric guitars. It aims to instill the familiar tone and feel of traditional tube amps, but without the routine maintenance involved. Featuring two channels that can be operated independently or in conjunction with one another, this amplifier is suitable for many types of venues, and its comparatively light weight of 17.6 lb renders it eminently portable.

The front panel has inputs for both high- and low-level instruments, making it suitable for passive or active pickup configurations. You'll also note the amp's control section, where you'll find parameters for both clean and crunch channels with dedicated EQ controls, as well as reverb, master volume and presence knobs. Next to the master rotary is the power control knob, which allows you to reduce the output of the amp without changing the timbre. Thus, whether playing clean or decisively dirty, you do not have to compromise on tonal versatility.

On the rear of the amp, you'll see a 1/4" speaker output with an impedance switch for matching various cabinets. A MIDI input lets you control amp settings from a MIDI foot controller or effect unit, and dual EFX loops are provided, in series and in parallel. Simply hold down both EFX Loop buttons on the control panel to switch between the two configurations. In addition to a direct line output, other modern flourishes include a stereo headphone output, an XLR DI output (with ground-lift switch), three different footswitch inputs, and a USB recording output for direct-to-DAW situations.
    Tube Logic
  • Tweaked heavily since its first iterations in the '90s, Roland's Tube Logic seeks to emulate the sound of tube amps as well as their inner workings to generate a more faithful tone.
    Boost and Tone
  • For each channel, augmenting the volume controls are two switches labeled boost and tone. The Boost switch adds more tube crunch to your existing tone, whilst the Tone switch accentuates the treble frequencies for greater high-end definition. Both of these switches can be operated hands-free with the separately available footswitch.
    Dual Tone Mode
  • Dual Tone mode lets you blend both channels together for a vast array of rich tones.
    Variable Power Control
  • Most tube amplifiers are thought to have a volume sweet spot, a locale in which the power tubes are cranked just enough to provide pleasurable distortion. If that volume setting is deviated from, tone can be compromised. In many instances, that sweet spot is often too loud in volume for most live or recording situations. Tube Logic gives you total dynamic control over your sound, and once you find a sweet spot, you can use the variable power control knob to reduce the output to 45, 15, or even 0.5 watts in order to take down the volume and match it to your current playing situation without affecting your chosen tone.
    Tube Tone without Hassle
  • Roland's Tube Logic can alleviate some of the common maintenance issues associated with traditional tube amplifiers.
Effects, Foot Control & Recording over USB
  • The Blues Cube Tour head features onboard reverb, as well as two effects loops for patching in any external effect that you like. The rear panel has jacks for connecting an optional footswitch, such as the GA-FC Foot Controller, which provides remote switching for channel selection, Dual Tone mode, and on/off for the effects loops. To capture the amp's rich tones directly into your favorite computer recording applications, simply use the USB jack.
