Product description This matched pair of R-122V Vacuum Tube Ribbon Microphones from Royer Labs is the result of additional developments made to the microphone once used as the benchmark to test their R-122 series microphones. This world-class design delivers the benefits of a top-quality ribbon microphone with the output power and warm characteristics associated with the industry's best vacuum tube condensers.
The 2.5-micron aluminum ribbon reproduces audio with startling transparency and detail. Like most ribbon microphones, the R-122V features a figure-8 polar pattern for flexible microphone positioning. The output-stage electronics are built around a JAN mil-spec 5840W vacuum tube for incredible warmth, rich detail and high output gain. A dedicated power supply is included for powering the tube. - JAN mil-spec 5840W vacuum tube electronics wired in a triode configuration provide high-output capability, optimal impedance to the ribbon element, and low-output impedance
- The 2.5-micron aluminum ribbon has a figure-8 pickup pattern to provide equal sensitivity from both sides of the mic and is designed to provide a consistent frequency response, regardless of distance
- Extremely low self-noise keeps the mic from coloring your recordings
- High SPL capabilities are ideal for recording electric guitar and percussion instruments
- Absence of high-frequency peaks, "ringing", and phase shifts
- The ribbon element is unaffected by impedance/load, heat, or humidity
- Extremely low magnetic leakage
- Operates from a dedicated power supply
