Product description The nickel Colette CMC 6U Microphone Amplifier & MK 22 Open Cardioid Capsule from Schoeps includes the CMC 6U Analog Microphone Amplifier, MK 22 Open Cardioid Capsule, SG 20 Microphone Stand Adapter, B 5 Solid Foam Popscreen, and a wooden storage case.
The CMC 6U Analog Microphone Amplifier is designed for standard 48 and 12V phantom powering. Its circuitry recognizes the supply voltage and adjusts itself automatically. Its performance characteristics remain essentially the same either way. The main difference is that the current drawn at 12V is greater than that drawn at 48V. However, the 12V mode consumes less power and might be preferred for battery-powered recording.
The microphone amplifier provides electrostatic charge, which the capsule requires in order to produce a signal. Since only a miniscule amount of current is contained in this signal, amplification of the current is required. To avoid interference with the signal on the way from the microphone to the input of the mixer or preamp, the signal is conveyed at low impedance and in a balanced form. The CMC 6U Amplifier offers a symmetrical, transformerless, direct-coupled Class A output stage with low impedance, distortion, and interference.
The MK 22 Open Cardioid Microphone Capsule provides an optimal combination of the classic directionality of the cardioid capsule and the sonic character of the wide cardioid capsule. The response is -5 dB at 90° and there is 16 dB suppression of rear-incident sound. It is in essence a variant cardioid capsule that balances natural sound quality and a good degree of directionality.
The MK 22 Microphone has been developed for use as a spot microphone. Its directivity is essentially constant throughout the frequency range. Its inherent low-frequency response is more pronounced than that of the cardioid capsule, while its proximity effect is somewhat less pronounced. It is well suited for use as a stereo pair.
The SG 20 Stand Clamp can support a microphone with a diameter of up to 0.8" (21mm). The base of this mount has a 5/8"-27 NS internal thread. A threaded adapter is supplied for 3/8" and 1/2" mounting. The angle of the adapter can be changed continuously in the vertical plane.
The B 5 Solid Foam Popscreen provides sufficient protection at normal speaking distances with minimal effect on sound quality for cardioid and other directional capsules, especially when speech capsules are used. With omni-directional capsules, it may even be used outdoors in light wind. - CMC 6UNI Microphone Amplifier The CMC 6UNI Microphone Amplifier from Schoeps is designed for standard 12 or 48V phantom powering. As the capsules of condenser microphones from Schoeps cannot be directly connected to microphone cables or inputs, a microphone amplifier is required in between. The amplifier’s circuitry recognizes the supply voltage and adjusts itself automatically.Its performance characteristics remain essentially the same with both 12 and 48V; mainly, the difference is that the current drawn at 12V is greater than at 48V. However, the 12V mode consumes less power and might be preferred for battery-powered recording.The microphone amplifier provides the electrostatic charge which the capsule requires in order to produce a signal. The MK22 combines the cardioid polar pattern of the MK4 with the sonic characteristics of the MK21. The result is a microphone that is ideal for spot capturing, with a polar pattern that effectively reduces ambient noise and feedback. The MK22 has a perfect combination of reference microphone and instrument microphone characteristics, for crucial capturing in recording and live audio applications.

It provides sufficient protection at normal speaking distances for cardioids and other directional capsules, especially when speech capsules are used. With omnidirectional capsules, it may even be used outdoors in light wind. This popscreen has minimal effect on sound quality.
