Product description Designed for engineering workstations, network servers, mainframes, supercomputers, and more, the 8TB Enterprise Capacity 7200 rpm SAS III 3.5" Internal HDD from Seagate provides high performance and high capacity data storage using its Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) interface. It is designed for 24/7 use and meets next-generation computing demands for performance, scalability, flexibility, and high-density storage requirements.
Seagate's 8TB Enterprise 3.5" drive offers a storage capacity of up to 8TB, a 4Kn format, and operates using a SAS III 12 Gb/s interface, a 256MB cache, and a rotational speed of 7200 rpm, all of which help to ensure uninterrupted data transfers with a sustained data transfer rate of up to 249 MB/s. This drive also features high levels of reliability, with a workload limit of 550TB per year, 1 in 1015 non-recoverable read errors, a 2 million hour MTBF, 8,760 power-on hours per year, and an annualized failure rate (AFR) of 0.44%.
This drive is further stabilized using an automatic shipping lock that helps prevent potential damage to the heads and discs that results from movement during shipping and handling. The shipping lock disengages and the head load process begins when power is applied to the drive. While in use, built-in rotational vibration tolerance helps to ensure consistent performance, even in dense multi-drive systems. General Features Capacity-Optimized Enterprise Hard Drive for Bulk-Data Applications - 8TB, 3.5" Enterprise drive with conventional magnetic recording (CMR) technology
- Advanced Write Caching feature enables up to 100% performance improvement in random writes over the last-generation drive
- 12 Gb/s SAS interface and a 4Kn format for easy integration into replicated and RAID multi-drive storage servers and systems
- Cache, on-the-fly error-correction algorithms, super parity, and end-to-end SAS-based data integrity for accurate data storage
- Rotational vibration tolerance design helps ensure consistent performance in dense multi-drive systems
- Engineered for 24x7 workloads of 550TB per year
- Robust performance with dual processors, ramp load technology, top-cover attached motor, and humidity sensor for optimum performance in all chassis
- PowerBalance feature available for lower power/performance in random read/write environments
- Seagate SeaTools diagnostic software to provide drive self-tests helping to ensure unnecessary downtime and maximizing TCO
Best-Fit Applications - Hyperscale applications/cloud data centers with replicated storage
- Massive scale-out data centers and big data analytics
- High-capacity density RAID storage
- Mainstream enterprise external storage arrays (SAN, NAS, DAS)
- Distributed file systems, including Hadoop and Ceph
- Enterprise backup and restore - D2D, virtual tape
