Beginning with support for editing RAW image files to an extensive variety of selection tools, this program includes an array of tools, functions, and modes to benefit a complete editing process.
Non-destructive and layer-based working methods are supported, including the ability to "uncrop" imagery to return to the original photograph's format. Benefitting the designer working with photographs, vector masks and sub-pixel guides can also be used for greater precision when adding lines, shapes, or making creative masks within photographs. For creative enhancement in a more photographic sense, different color settings can be directly applied to images as well as film grain, tilt-shift, and other lens-inspired effects. Among other editing tools, a range of corrective functions can be utilized to retouch and restore photographs, such as a Clone tool, Blemish Removal tool, and a Scratch Remover tool.
The X6 version of PhotoPlus has been updated to support 64-bit operating systems from Windows in order to garner faster overall performance, especially when handling larger file sizes and when batch processing. - 64-Bit Operation
- Optimized for use on 64-bit Windows operating systems, PhotoPlus X6 can take advantage of increased processing power for faster operation and more seamless handling of larger files. This support for added processing power also benefits batch image processing.

- Using intuitive brush-based control, selections can be made that automatically adapt to detected edges and objects within an image. This method of creating selections can also be used to refine other selections for more refined control.
- RAW Image Control
- Import RAW dialog helps to expedite the processing and handling of RAW image files and supports lighting and noise reduction adjustments; image curve adjustment; manipulation of HSL (hue, saturation, and lightness) values; lens distortion and vignetting control; black and white film modes; and unsharp masking adjustments for more selective editing capabilities. Additionally, red-eye reduction, spot-repair, and cropping tools are also available.
- Tilt-Shift and Miniature Scenes
- A unique Depth of Field filter can be used to simulate tilt-shift effects for selective control over the focus of an image. Miniature effects can be achieved using this tool by controlling the amount of blur in the foreground and background of an image.
- Fill Layers and Creative Color Effects
- Editable fill layers can be used within imagery to efficiently employ solid or gradient (linear, radial, conical, or square) fills. By using these independent layers, you do not need to pre-define a selection or shaped region prior to making the adjustment. Opacity control also permits more refined application of coloring to an image and different blend modes can also be utilized for creative effects.
Selective color, watercolor, oil, impressionist, and tilt-shift creative effects can also be applied to imagery, with the ability to refine the effect or adjust independent portions of an image. Additionally, film grain and lens flare effects can be utilized to mimic true photographic qualities. - Vector Masks for Drawn Mask Control
- For creating editable, smoothly curved masks for editing, hand-drawn vector masks can be employed on standard and adjustment layers.
- High Dynamic Range
- For attaining greater highlight and shadow detail in contrast-rich scenes, an intuitive High Dynamic Range (HDR) merging function helps to seamlessly blend multiple, sequentially-recorded exposures into a single frame.
- Noise Reduction Technology
- A dedicated Noise Reduction filter can be used to effectively remove noise as a result of working in low-light conditions and with high ISO settings. This tool can be used in both RAW import and PhotoFix modes, and both luma and chroma noise types can be altered independently.
- Non-Destructive Cropping
- Offering the ability to "uncrop" an image at any time, this feature is ideal if wanting to re-crop an image or if you want to revert to the original image format after working in a cropped format.
- Increased Zoom Range
- Benefitting making detailed edits of large files, the PhotoPlus zoom range is two times longer than previous versions for enhanced critical editing control.

- Enhanced Export Optimizer and PhotoPlus Organizer
- Image files can be exported in the TIFF, WDP, or PNG file formats using either 48- or 64-bit depths, and CMYK and monochromatic images can be output at 8- or 16-bit depths. Files can also be saved in a variety of other file formats, including JPG, GIF, BMP, and PSD, among others. Additionally, during the exporting stage, EXIF/IPTC data can either be saved within the file or discarded entirely.
Beyond versatile exporting options, a PhotoPlus Organizer can also be used to develop a cataloging system for rating, labeling, and finding specific files. Using this interface, images can also be directly exported to social media websites or plotted to interactive maps using location data. - Versatile Selection and Removal Tools
- Smart Selection and Edge Refinement tools facilitate precise selection capabilities for quickly highlighting and cutting-out subjects within an image. A Clone tool can also be used to sample portions of an image for easy dust-spotting and object removal.
- Image Restoration
- A dedicated Scratch Remover tool helps to quickly erase scratches, creases, marks, and other defects from photographs to help restore them to their original quality.
- Portrait Retouching
