Product description Designed for electric guitar players, the Andromeda from Seymour Duncan is a delay pedal that can give you the vibe of analog units, the characteristics of tape echoes, clear digital repeats, a combination of all these timbres, and dynamic interplay between your echoes and your initial sound. Its eight delay types are segmented into two overall categories: analog and digital. Within these categories, you'll find Normal, Ping Pong, Reverse, and Reverse Pong options.
Further effects modification can be achieved via the Tone knob, which brightens or darkens the timbre of the delay, and the Saturation knob, which can add a measure of harmonic distortion typical of old tape machines into the repeats. A Modulation knob will let you to apply chorus or vibrato to the delay, and a Tap Tempo footswitch—complete with Tap Value subdivision knob—allows you to set the tempo onstage at any time.
The Andromeda also utilizes a dedicated Dynamic Expression feature to control how the pedal reacts to your playing style in real time. Using a combination of the Threshold parameter and the Mix/Mod/Saturation selector, you can guide the pedal to change its behavior in reaction to your louder or quieter sections. For instance, you can evoke a chorus effect in quiet passages which will instantly disappear when you play loudly. Likewise, you can set the pedal to bring delays to the forefront for your solos, but drop to a more ambient level the moment you decrescendo. This brings an interactive component to the pedal which seasoned and inquisitive musicians are apt to find useful.
The pedal is programmable, so you can save and recall patches that you particularly enjoy into one of the onboard 128 presets. The unit also provides MIDI in and MIDI thru ports, stereo 1/4" I/O, and a 24-bit/48 kHz digital engine. Using its micro-USB port, you can connect to Seymour Duncan's Updater/Librarian software to save, name, and store your favorite patches; you can even trade them online with your friends and members of your musical community. - Key Features at a Glance
