Product description Softron's Multicam Logger Option for M80 / M62 / M44 allows a user to log all of the different angles (or inputs) used in a live multi-camera production. The software seamlessly integrates with ATEM switchers, but can work with any production switcher that supports GPI by using an optional GPICommander2 interface device. The Multicam Logger does not record the video from each camera, and as such is hardware agnostic as far as video files and formats, instead it keeps track of the angles and edits made on your switcher during the live recording. After the shoot you take the original source material and drag it into the corresponding camera angle in Multicam Logger to create a file with the video footage, edits, markers, and indicators.
The resulting media file can be used to open your media as a multicam edit within most common NLEs. This provides you with a copy of your switched program, synched with timecode, and with all the media available, you can easily edit and tweak, without having to import, re-sync, and re-create your program before you can make changes. - Interfaces directly to an optional Blackmagic Design ATEM Production Switcher through Ethernet. The inputs on the ATEM Production Switcher appear immediately on the Multicam Logger screen and connect through a simple Network Connection, no need for complicated cabling and you can use any switcher from the ATEM Production Switcher line.
Selecting a device on the ATEM automatically selects it on Multicam Logger, selecting it in the Multicam Logger application immediately selects the appropriate ATEM input on the switcher and retrieves the name of the different inputs from the ATEM. - You can connect to your favorite non ATEM switcher using a standard GPI/tally interface. To connect to a production switcher using GPI, all the user needs to do is connect the device to an optional Softron GPICommander2.
- Multicam Logger notes the timecode for the start and the end of the selection. It also displays the duration and which input has been used.
- Once the live session has ended, you select the file in the Finder to associate with the input and drop it onto the named input. You can then simply click on send multicam to send the multicam to your favorite editing software (Adobe Premiere Pro CS6, Final Cut Pro X, Final Cut Pro 7). All of the changes will then appear in your editing solution and are ready to be modified.
- Multicam Logger does not record any video and is hardware agnostic. What Multicam Logger does is log the angles that you selected when producing a live show. To get to the multicam clips afterwards, it is necessary that you have the capability to record each of the cameras on set and ideally the program output as well. To record each camera feed, the user can select whatever solution is appropriate.
- You can also add multiple clips per angle if for example the cameraman started and stopped recording on the camera during the production.
Note: this feature only works with Final Cut Pro X, and not with Adobe Premiere or Final Cut Pro 7 because of limitations in the XML. - You can also simply add Markers and To-Dos that will then be added to your project sequence, so you can log all the important moments or the moments that need to be reworked.
