Product description Taking code ported straight from the legendary Weiss DS1-MK3, the Softube Weiss Deess is a downloadable plug-in that performs band-specific compression tasks, such as de-essing a vocal or curtailing an odious bloom in the bass range. This plug-in takes the aforementioned code and redesigns the surrounding GUI for a modern experience that is convenient and intuitive, allowing for fast implementation.
If you're familiar with the Weiss DS1-MK3, you'll recognize the threshold section, with its different filters for the sidechain. The Weiss Deess provides two of these threshold sections, each with multiple filter shapes. In a modern update, bandwidth control is handled graphically, demarcated clearly in the frequency analyzer above the threshold sections. With these controls, you can precisely home in on problematic frequency ranges without destroying the character of other bands.
Ratio, knee settings, attack and release—they're not gone, only hidden in an expendable side panel. Here you can fine-tune the behavior of the de-esser. The GUI has been formatted this way to preserve an uncluttered look. As with the DS1-MK3, mid/side and link-controls are provided. Your inputs and outputs are clearly laid out on either side of the GUI.
With a switchable low-latency mode, you can use this plug-in while tracking, which may help you achieve a better sound more expeditiously. The Weiss Deess is compatible with Mac and Windows platforms, and can be used on a variety of different DAWs. Table of Contents
