Product description Release Mastering Worries with Softubes Weiss Plug-Ins Read More Transmuting a digital hardware classic into the software realm with the help of the original developer, the Softube Weiss DS1-MK3 captures everything that made the hardware a venerated piece of gear, from its de-essing, to its compression and limiting. This downloadable software is not an emulation of the Weiss hardware, but a line-by-line port of the original algorithms. The de-esser, compressor, and limiter work with all of the lightning speed of the original outboard piece, operating in stereo or mid-side modes. The mid-side operation is particularly useful in mastering, as you can hone in on a particularly sibilant frequency in the center vocal and tamp it down with minimal impact to the rest of the frequency spectrum and/or stereo spread. The linear phase filters of the de-esser are easily tuned to address problem areas throughout the mix, so if you have a low-mid bump in need of dynamics-taming, you can address that issue as well. With speeds faster than any hardware compressor or hardware emulation could attain, the Softube Weiss DS1-MK3 is capable of cleanly eliminating problems in specific frequency areas with its de-esser. It can also be tuned to control macro and microdynamics with its compressor, while its limiter can protect your master buss from peaks and clipping. In addition to the original algorithms, Softube and Weiss have provided two new limiting modes, further expanding the unit’s versatility. The software operates at sample rates and resolutions up to 192 kHz / 32-bit, which surpasses the hardware unit’s original specifications. As this is software, you can open multiple instances of the plug-in within your DAW. Presets by way of Bob Katz, who literally wrote the book on Mastering, are included with the plug-in. Note: This product is an educational discounted version available to qualified students, faculty/staff, and accredited academic institutions only. Proof of current educational status is required.
