Product description The Solid State Logic Alpha Channel is a rackmount analog channel strip offering a single channel of microphone preamplification, equalization, dynamics processing, and analog-to-digital conversion for singers, producers, and engineers in homes, studios, and live stage applications. With up to 75 dB of gain and Variable Harmonic Drive, the Alpha Channel can deliver anything from clean and smooth tones for soft vocals to ragged and gritty distortion for pounding drums. Its XLR-1/4" combo jack accommodates mic-, line-, and instrument-level input signals.Eliminate problematic rumble and proximity effect via the 40/80/120 Hz high-pass filter. Tonal sculpting is easily achieved with the Alpha Channel's 3-band EQ—the LF band works in shelf or bell mode, the MF band has a variable Q control, and the HF band is a dedicated shelving curve. Connect your favorite outboard processor such as a compressor to the 1/4" insert jacks, position it before or after the EQ at the push of a button, and even mix the dry send signal with the return.Activate the intelligent auto limiter to avoid clipping through the integrated 24-bit / 192 kHz ADC, which sends digital signal to the S/PDIF output jack. A separate analog output is presented on a balanced 1/4" TRS socket. The Alpha Channel also features adjustable output gain, a -20 dB pad, a polarity switch, and selectable 48V phantom power. The Alpha Channel occupies 1 RU of rack space and includes a detachable power cable. - Transparent SSL mic preamp with 75 dB of gain and Hi-Z impedance switch
- Built-in VHD (Variable Harmonic Drive) circuit—first featured on SSL's flagship Duality console—adds level-dependent coloration from warm 2nd harmonics to aggressive 3rd harmonics
- High-pass filter selectable at 40/80/120 Hz
- 3-band EQ with mid-frequency Q control and selectable shelf/bell low-frequency mode
- Selectable intelligent auto limiting maximizes headroom and avoids ADC clipping
- Front-panel XLR-1/4" combo jack for mic, line, or instrument input
- Auto-sensing 1/4" Hi-Z input with passive DI-type impedance detection and level matching
- Integrated 24-bit / 192 kHz ADC (analog-to-digital converter)
- 1/4" TRS analog output and S/PDIF digital output
- Automatic sample rate synchronization to incoming digital signal
- 6-segment LED output meter
- 1/4" insert send and return can be positioned before or after the EQ
- Sum switch mixes the insert send with the insert return
- Dedicated switches for polarity, -20 dB pad, and phantom power
- Connect multiple Alpha Channels via DC sidechain link RCA jacks to achieve the same degree of limiting on the connected units
