Product description Sonnox Oxford Limiter v2 is a true peak limiter plug-in, which provides transparent level control and program loudness maximization to your mixes with a level of transient detail that surpasses that of traditional brickwall limiters. Attack, release, and soft knee can be independently adjusted with the Enhance function applied, to achieve perceived loudness that ranges from nuanced limiting to artistic audio effects.Oxford Limiter v2 comprises four processes cascaded in order: preprocessing gain control, program enhancement and overshoot control, reconstruction metering and compensation, and dithering and noise shaping. The Recon Meter and Auto Comp parameter enable you to meter and automatically correct otherwise invisible reconstruction overloads, while conforming to the ITU-R BS.1770-4 industry standard.Comprehensive dithering functionality is included with four, variable-strength noise shaping modes, which ensure high-resolution mastering output quality, in either 16- or 24-bit audio. Note: An iLok2/3 key is required if one is not already on the system. - Key Features
-
- True peak limiting with attack, release, and variable soft knee
- For transparent level control, program loudness maximization preserves transient details
- Can be heavily applied for artistic audio effects
- Recon meter shows the actual signal rather than a sampled signal
- Auto Comp fixes reconstruction errors without losing overall loudness—conforming to the industry's true peak measurement standard ITU-R BS.1770-4
- Accurate logarithmic side-chain processing
- Adaptive timing functionality that uses look-ahead signal acquisition
- Audition and apply TPDF dither for 24-bit and 16-bit output word lengths
- Four, variable-strength noise shaping modes for use with highly dynamic program material
- Fully backward compatibility with previous plug-in versions
- Extensive library of factory presets to get you started
- Licenses included—AAX Native, RTAS, Audio Units, VST
- Pre-Process Section
-
- Provides a musical program-leveling function to create optimum conditions for the enhancement stage
- Can be used as a conventional leveling section
- Attack (fader) allows peak program transient events to escape hard gain reduction and improve the sonic quality of the peak reduction process
- Release (fader) allows for the modelling of short-term peaks over restricted gain reduction ranges, up to a maximum of 4 dB
- Soft Knee (fader) adjusts the response curve between 0 dB (hard limiting) and 10 dB (softer limiting)
- Auto Gain can be used to compensate for large level changes, while still allowing fast peak modelling for shorter peak events
- Enhancement Section
-
- Provides sample value limiting and overall program loudness improvement
- Normal mode allows for full sample value to occur at 100% or higher
- Safe mode allows absolute peak level control without excessive enhancer action
- Can be used on its own to produce program enrichment and peak value limiting, by using minimal gain reduction and slow timing settings in the preprocess section
- Can be used to enhance highly processed content from the preprocess section to achieve even greater perceived loudness
- Reconstruction Metering and Compensation Section
-
- Recon Meter displays reconstructed program levels present after decoding with a digital-to-analog converter
- Auto Comp corrects overloads in the reconstructed signal
- Noise-shaped dithering either forces the spectrum of the noise out of the audible range or places it into frequency ranges around which we are less sensitive—noise heard at low level may be reduced or eliminated
