Product description Designed to facilitate the supreme enjoyment of high-resolution audio, the Sony MDR-Z1R is a pair of closed-back, over-ear headphones with high-grade accents and components that ensure crystal-clear audio playback. For instance, a 70mm magnesium dome-shaped driver coupled with a liquid-crystal polymer-edge diaphragm provides the ability to secure a 4 Hz to 120 kHz frequency response. Likewise, resonance-free housing offers an acoustic filter which purports to eliminate reverberations caused by movement within the driver. On the craft side, ergonomic sheepskin earpads are fashioned to prevent leakage, cushion ears, and deliver a solid low-end. The over-ear construction mitigates distractions, while an elastic titanium headband with leather accents helps in providing the comfort factor to ensure a sturdy and comfortable listening experience. To further minimize the signal-transmission loss that plagues many headphones, the MDR-Z1R utilizes silver-coated oxygen-free copper cabling, resulting in more in the way of detail and clarity and less in the manner of sound degradation. These headphones come with your standard cable terminating in a 3.5mm stereo plug, but for an even more hi-fi experience, a balanced 4.4mm connection cable—which separates the left and right channels to mitigate signal loss—is provided, as is a protective hard case with satin-lined compartments. - 70mm Dome-Type Driver
- With its magnesium dome and liquid-crystal polymer edge, the driver is capable of up to 120 kHz playback in high-resolution audio with power and precision. The magnesium-dome diaphragm propagates vibrations generated from the voice coil to the dome, thus achieving reproduction of sound in the highest parts of the frequency spectrum. The combination of these materials engenders a sound that is less colored and more clear.
- Acoustic Filtering Minimizes Resonances
- Resonance-free housing provides an acoustic filter to control the air resistance, thus eliminating any reverberations produced by driver movement. The result is a clean and crisp frequency palette.
- Ergonomic Sheepskin Earpads
- Designed to comfortably encase your head in sound, these ergonomically crafted earpads prevent leaking while delivering powerful lows. The genuine sheepskin earpads are also comfortable in their soft cushioning.
- Enfolding Design Structure
- The enfolding design is tailored to wrap around the ear, sealing music in and safeguarding against distraction. Acoustics are reflected back toward your ears for a more natural sound profile.
- Titanium and Leather Headband
- The beta-titanium headband provides elasticity, returning to its original shape even when bent. Genuine leather lends a feeling of sturdiness as well as comfort.
- Constructed for Long Listening Sessions
- The titanium alloy headband is both flexible and light, designed for all-day wearing.
- Included 4.4mm Balanced Connection Cable
- The 0.17" / 4.4mm balanced connection cable separates left and right sound signals, while minimizing signal-transmission loss and mitigating sound deterioration. The result is smoother high frequencies.
- Included Hard Case for Storage
- The headphones and accompanying cables come with a hard, protective storage case, with separated compartments and satin lining.
- Silver-Coated Oxygen-Free Copper
- The MDR-Z1R uses silver-coated oxygen-free copper cables, designed to minimize resistance and signal-transmission loss while maximizing detail and smoother treble sounds.
- Crafted in Japan
- The MDR-Z1R headphones are crafted in Japan to ensure quality of components and manufacturing techniques.
