Product description The single Sony SS-AR1 3-Way Floorstanding Speaker is designed to deliver audiophile-grade sonic performance from its robust speaker cabinet. This speaker has a 4-unit, 3-way design that incorporates a 1" soft dome tweeter, 5" sliced-paper cone midrange, and two 8"" aluminum cone woofers. With a nominal impedance of 4 ohms and a maximum power handling of 200W, the SS-AR1 is ready to be paired with high-quality power amplifiers. This speaker's 28 Hz to 60 kHz frequency response allows it to play back a wide range of musical selections, covering high- and low-frequency material. - Cabinet Design
- This loudspeaker's cabinet is designed to enable clean and pinpoint imaging with a vivid and lifelike soundstage. Driver units from Danish transducer specialist, Scan-Speak, produce powerful bass performance combined with detailed midrange and high-frequency sound that reach up to 60 kHz.
- Speaker Construction
- The SS-AR1 uses a 2" thick baffle board made from laminated, instrument-grade maple from Japan. For the rest of the cabinet, tight-grained Nordic birch is laminated, curved and compressed to a thickness of 1.3". This speaker features a precisely assembled complex internal system and a piano finish that helps to protect the wood from heat and humidity.
- Drivers
-
- 1" soft dome with six neodymium magnets arranged in a circle produces high flux density in minimal space
- 5" sliced-paper cone with a ferrite magnet improves efficiency while a copper ring in the magnetic circuit reduces distortion.
- Twin 8" aluminum cones, each with a copper ring to optimize the symmetry of the magnetic field and reduce distortion. Aluminum diaphragms, oversized ferrite magnets, a rigid enclosure and the common bass reflex port on the rear panel help generate bass response with power, authority, and clarity
