Product description The DR8-TB2 8-Bay Thunderbolt 2 RAID Enclosure from STARDOM offers eight drive bays, two Thunderbolt 2 ports, and a hardware RAID controller to let you create a custom storage solution for creative environments. The enclosure connects to your system via an included Thunderbolt cable and has two Thunderbolt 2 interfaces to support daisy-chaining with up to five Thunderbolt devices. Each of the eight drive bays comes with a lockable tray that is compatible with 2.5" and 3.5" hard drives and SSDs. Once drives are installed, the DR8-TB2 is equipped with a hardware RAID controller, so you can configure your drives in a RAID 0, 1, 10, 5, 6, 50, 60, or JBOD mode.
STARDOM has equipped the DR8-TB2 with two 80mm fans that spin at variable speeds to cool your drives and internal components. For power, a 300W power supply is on board. In addition, the DR8-TB2 is designed with a 2RU form factor to fit in 19" server racks. - Thunderbolt 2.0
- The DR8-TB2 supports a Thunderbolt 2 (TB2) interface for fast data transfer speeds. The two Thunderbolt 2 ports transfer data at a rate of up to 20 Gb/s, which is 4 times faster than USB 3.0 or 2 times faster than USB 3.1. It also lets you daisy-chain up to 5 Thunderbolt devices together.
- Hardware RAID
- The DR8-TB2 is built with an easy-to-use hardware RAID engine that won't hurt system performance during RAID rebuilds. With RAID 5 or RAID 6 options, you can configure your drives for best data protection and performance.
- Easy Set Up
- With Marvell's MSU Tool, you could set up a RAID array using a user-friendly graphical interface. You could choose from one of the following 8 different RAID modes (RAID 6, 60, 5, 50, 1, 10, 0 and JBOD) to fit your needs.
- RAID 0 Mode
- Configuring your drives under RAID 0 provides up to 1300 MB/s transfer speeds.
- RAID 5 Mode
- RAID 5 mode requires three or more drives and provides both read-&-write efficiency and data protection. If one of your drives fails, your data is kept safe.
- RAID 6 Mode
- When compared to RAID 5, RAID 6 provides better data protection by allowing up to two drive failures. Four drives are required to support RAID 6.
- Drive Trays
- Each of the drive trays features a lock that helps prevent accidental drive extractions. In addition, the trays are compatible with 2.5" and 3.5" storage drives.
- SGPIO Compatible
- The DR8-TB2 supports the SGPIO (Serial General Purpose Input & Output) feature, which detects defective drives.
- Cooling
- For cooling, the DR8-TB2 features an aluminum chassis and comes with two 80mm fans. MCU is also on board to adjust the fan's speed based upon the internal temperature.
- Power
- The DR8-TB2 uses a UL/CE certified 300W power supply unit that provides a stable and efficient power output for all eight drives.
- 2RU Design
- The DR8-TB2 can be mounted into a 19" server rack.
