Product description Add another dimension to your exploration of the universe with the Starlight Xpress Reflective Spectrograph. This tool splits the incoming light from celestial objects into its composite wavelengths and by reading the ratio of their intensities and the width of each emission line you can determine what type of gasses the star or nebulae is made of and the temperature of each element. It can also be used for non-astronomical applications such as photonics/physics experiments where you are trying to look at a specific wavelength of light.Designed to be relatively small and lightweight, the entire spectrum is accessible with this device by adjusting a sliding camera carrier, using a threaded drive screw, but most of the visible spectrum can be seen without adjustment. A six-position slit wheel, with various slit widths and lengths, is provided and will allow the sensitivity and resolution to be optimized for your project. The resolution R factor when using the smallest slit width (20 microns) is approximately 2000. The integrated monochrome Lodestar X2 guide camera ensures your system stays on-target during your spectroscopy sessions. To ensure the spectrograph is reading the light correctly, there is an onboard argon-neon calibration lamp that is driven by a simple 9V battery.Standard T2 threads on each side allow you to quickly and easily attach it to telescopes (front female threads) and to mount imaging systems (rear male threads) using readily available T-mount accessories and adapters.
