Product description Designed for laptops equipped with WiGig (IEEE 802.11ad) and USB Type-C, the Wireless (WiGig) / USB Type-C Dual-Monitor Docking Station from Startech is a hybrid laptop dock that lets you connect to your Windows 10 system either wirelessly, or through a wired USB Type-C connection, which is also compatible with laptops equipped with Thunderbolt 3. Once set up, wireless docking allows you to dock and undock your laptop without needing to connect and disconnect a cable. The docking station has a wireless range of up to 4'.
If your laptop doesn't support WiGig, this dock's USB 3.0 bus gives you the option to connect using USB Type-C, which can transmit power (up to 60W), video, and data, all using a single cable, allowing you to not only reduce workstation clutter, but also not carry an additional power adapter around with you. Please note that USB Power Delivery is only supported through USB Type-C and will not work with WiGig connectivity.
Startech has also equipped this dock with DisplayPort and HDMI video outputs, allowing you to connect dual monitors in USB Type-C and WiGig modes. There are also two USB 3.0 ports and two USB 2.0 ports, including a fast charge-and-sync port, as well as Gigabit Ethernet and headset connections. Included is a stand, a USB Type-C cable, a universal power adapter, and two power cords (NA/JP, ANZ). General Features - Two versatile options to connect the dock to your host laptop, through WiGig (wireless, or USB Type-C (wired)).
- Supports dual monitors with a resolution of 1920 x 1200 @ 60 Hz on each display (DisplayPort and HDMI), or a single 4K display when connected through USB Type-C.
- Power and charge your laptop with support for USB Power Delivery (up to 60W) when connected through USB Type-C.
- When connected using WiGig, the DisplayPort supports a single display at resolutions up to 2560 x 1600 @ 60 Hz.
- Four USB Type-A ports (two USB 3.0 and USB 2.0), including a front-panel fast charge-and-sync port (supports USB Battery Charging Specification 1.2).
- Gigabit Ethernet RJ45 port with Wake-on-LAN (WOL), 3.5mm headset port.
- WiGig connections feature auto-dock detection capability.
- Upright (tower) orientation that occupies little desk space and helps ensure reliable WiGig connections.
- Supports Windows 10 only and is Thunderbolt 3 data port compatible (the dock can connect to a Thunderbolt 3 port at 5 Gb/s and will support USB Power Delivery).
System Requirements - The dock can connect to a host laptop's USB Type-C port even if it doesn't support USB Power Delivery 2.0 and DP alt mode. However, without support for these two protocols, the dock will not pass power through to your host laptop or support video output.
- The dock's DisplayPort only supports active DisplayPort video adapters.
- A 4K-capable display is required to achieve 4K x 2K resolution (4K is also known as 4K x 2K).
- Video output capabilities are dependent on the video card and hardware specifications of the host laptop it's connected to. Certain video cards have limited video support, and some monitors will also limit the available resolution.
- When connected to your host laptop through WiGig, the dock only supports 2-channel audio (5 and 7-channel audio are not supported).
- HDCP content is not supported when connected in WiGig mode.
- A WiGig (IEEE 802.11ad) equipped host laptop or a USB Type-C equipped host laptop (the host USB Type-C port must support USB Power Delivery 2.0 in order to power and charge your laptop. It must also support DP alt mode to enable video output).
