Product description The UR242 from Steinberg is a four input, two output USB 2.0 audio interface that features dual D-PRE microphone preamps coupled with 24-bit/192 kHz converters. The portable device is housed in an all-metal chassis and also functions as a MIDI interface, allowing for connection of external MIDI devices. With on-board DSP-based effects, a separate headphones jack and phantom power supply, the unit is perfect for mobile musicians, touring DJs, or the small personal writing studio.
Audio input is available via two Neutrik XLR/TRS combo inputs both with Peak LEDs, and global, switchable +48V phantom power enables the connection of condenser microphones. A Hi-Z switch on input one allows for direct recording of electric guitar or bass without the need of a DI box and a pair of rear panel line inputs allow for connecting electronic keyboards. Independent headphones and main output controls provide for adjusting the monitor and phones level individually.
The Class Compliant mode allows the interface to connect to an iPad (with an optional Apple Connection Kit) and using iOS music production apps like Steinberg's Cubasis makes for an elegant solution for sketching out ideas at home or on the go. Additionally, the interface is compatible with all major audio editing, mastering, and music production software that support ASIO, Core Audio, or WDM standards.
Also included with the UR242 is a copy of Cubase AI DAW software. Based on the same core technologies as the full Cubase DAW, the AI version offers an intuitive feature set for composing, recording, editing and mixing. Two TRS outputs, stable drivers and a USB 2.0 connection complement the feature set of this professional yet affordable device. - Four-input, two-output USB 2.0 audio interface
