Product description Which DAW is Right for You? Read More Available for download, Steinberg WaveLab 9.5 is software designed for the mastering process. It’s designed to aid you in producing audio deliverables for the CD plant, for streaming, or for multichannel platforms. As such, the software provides tools aplenty for audio analysis, audio restoration, sonic shaping, and other processes integral to the practice of mastering.The previous version of WaveLab came with a redesigned user interface, giving you a central tab area that incorporated commonly-used functions, as well as a waveform display. Tool windows denoted metering displays, error correction functions, markers, and more, with full support for mid/side processing. If you wanted to use your favorite third party plug-ins on only the sum or difference channels, this was made possible by the previous iteration of WaveLab.WaveLab 9.5 picks up from where WaveLab 9 left off in several ways. First of all, a new Spectrogram has been provided, with customizable display settings to help you find and edit the most problematic parts of the audio spectrum. In addition to the Spectrogram, WaveLab 9.5 provides a new Wavelet display for visualizing the content of audio in a more accurate fashion, one based on musical pitch scaling, showing you, in easy-to-grasp terms, how dynamic energy is spread out across the frequency spectrum.The Spectrum Editor itself has been expanded to provide comprehensive tools for editing, mitigating, or emphasizing infinitely specific portions of the time and frequency domains. For instance, a Lasso tool has been supplied, as well as a Brush tool, and a Wand tool. Also on hand is exclusive, patent-pending technology called Inpainting, which seeks to remove unwanted noise from audio material, analyzing spectral information of the surrounding area and creating intelligent, unobtrusive replacements. This technology can help you deal with dropouts or artifacts present in the source material, obviating the need for creative fades or region replacements.You’ll note that the old Sonnox software previously included with WaveLab has been replaced with a new suite of plug-ins called RestoreRig; this suite’s DeNoiser, DeBuzzer, and DeClicker (which also comprises a DePopper and a DeCrackler) have all been coded with fresh algorithms, and each plug-in provides a user-interface commensurate with the aethestics of today’s plug-ins.In addition to RestoreRig, improvements have been made to the MasterRig suite of plug-ins, including the Maximizer (which now sports a Modern algorithm and a mix controller) as well as a reconfigured equalizer. A tube compressor is now on hand for emulating the cream of yesterday’s crop, as is a vintage compressor modeled on some British dynamics modules of yesteryear. Two new Batch Processor plug-ins have been added, which are sure to please sound designers: an Audio Mixer, which allows you to fingerprint your audio tracks for protection, and a module that delays the next inline process, so that you don’t wind up unintentionally affecting the transients of multiple files upon instantiation of many plug-ins in tandem.Many more features are now present, and for a full explication and breakdown of these features, please peruse the Features section below this paragraph.
