Product description Steiner's Star Beacon is designed for mounting on vehicles and helmets to deliver flashing IFF (Identification of Friend or Foe) beacons in an MWIR spectral band. This band of infrared (3 - 5µm) is invisible to the naked eye, night vision devices, or commercial video cameras but can be detected by MWIR targeting pods up to eight nautical miles away. To carry out this task, the device carries 14 LED emitters, which together deliver a powerful omnidirectional cone of infrared light.
To withstand the rigors of the battlefield or other challenging conditions like the high seas, the aluminum housing is lightweight, durable, and waterproof (submersible to 33'). Note: Export of this device described herein is strictly prohibited without a valid export license issued by the U.S. Department of State Directorate of Defense Trade Controls, as prescribed in the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Title 22, Code of Federal Regulations, Parts 120-130, and/or by the U.S. Department of Commerce Bureau of Industry Security, as prescribed in the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), Title 15, Code of Federal Regulations, Parts 730-780.
