Product description The B&H Binocular Buying Guide Read More Styrka's flagship optic series, the 10x42 S9-Series ED Binocular is engineered with complementary technologies to produce an optic that is built to perform well in low-light conditions and in the harshest environments. First is the use of extra low-dispersion (ED) glass in the lens elements to correct chromatic and spherical aberrations. Next are high-density glass SK15 roof prisms that have a high refractive index that limits internal light diffraction to boost contrast and brightness. The prisms are also phase-corrected and dielectric coated, which further limit internal light loss and diffraction, improving image contrast. The optical path is fully multi-coated with their proprietary SXL-MAX anti-reflection coatings which increase light transmission, image contrast and sharpness, and provide true color rendition. This all translates to bright and clear high-contrast images with accurate color across the entire wide field of view - especially at low light such as dawn and dusk, and heavily overcast skies. The chassis is built with an open-bridge/dual-hinge design which offers more gripping surface without sacrificing strength, and helps to reduce the overall weight. Made for a life outdoors, the optical tubes are nitrogen-filled and O-ring sealed to make them not only fogproof when moving between extreme temperatures, but also waterproof and submersible to 3.3' for up to 30-minutes. The exterior has black textured rubberized armor that protects against knocks and drops, and offers a slip-resistant grip for sure handling in cold and wet conditions. Styrka includes a one-piece ocular rainguard and tethered objective lens covers, plus a binocular harness that keeps the binocular close to the body while moving to eliminate snags and swing, and relieve neck strain by redistributing the weight to the shoulders. - Optical Performance
