Product description How to Use ND Filters: Tips, Tricks, and Special Effects Read More This Tadashi Solid Neutral Density 0.9 Filter is designed for use with SLR fisheye lenses that feature a convex front element which extends past the lens barrel. The curved, bulging front element of such lenses help create an extreme and distinct wide-angle perspective, but are incompatible with filters that are designed to be screwed onto the front of a lens. The dome-shaped, Tadashi Solid Neutral Density 0.9 Filter can accommodate SLR fisheye lenses with lens barrels that are up to 3.5" wide behind the front element, and provides the ability to apply a 3-stop exposure reduction without vignetting. Its 0.9 density creates a darkening of the entire image, does not affect coloration, and allows you to photograph with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed than normally required. By slowing your exposure time or increasing your aperture, you can control depth of field and convey movement more easily. Two elastic retention bands along this filter's base can be crossed over the front of a compatible lens to achieve a secure grip. When used, the Tadashi Solid Neutral Density 0.9 Filter also serves to protect the front element of a fisheye lens. Both the inner and outer sides of the filter include a scratch-resistant coating, while the outer side also features a hydrophobic coating that results in an improved beading effect when in contact with water for greater cleaning efficiency. This Tadashi Solid Neutral Density 0.9 Filter is constructed from plastic that is intended to provide optical clarity and impact resistance. -
