Product description - Brainwaves Pitch Shifter - Official Product Video
Designed for electric guitarists, the TC Electronic Brainwaves Pitch Shifter gives you four different pitch effects in one stompbox. You can use this pedal to achieve anything from classic whammy dive bombs to pedal-steel pitch bends. The pedal provides two different voice-shifting algorithms, and allows you to play them off of each other. For instance, you can set the pedal to jump from the first voice to the second, achieving great leaps of pitch in the process. The Detune mode can help you create double-tracking effects. With access to TC Electronic's TonePrint Editor Software, you can create a variety of finely-tuned custom sounds and beam them straight into the pedal with your smartphone or tablet. The TonePrint editor even provides a delay section to give you a pitch-shifted, shimmering sound for ethereal and atmospheric tones. However you choose to use the pedal, pitch-tracking will always remain clean and clear, allowing you to process quickly-played legato lines and block chords with minimal artifacts. Note the MASH footswitch, which is pressure sensitive, giving you flexibility in your expression of the pitch effect. The MASH control can be assigned to any parameter via the TonePrint software or the free TonePrint app. The app works with iOS and Android devices, and the software is compatible with both Mac and Windows platforms. The pedal offers one 1/4" instrument input and one 1/4" instrument output. By default, the Brainwaves Pitch Shifter operates in true bypass mode, meaning that your signal is completely unaffected when the pedal is disengaged. If you're playing over long cable runs and are worried about the loss of your high-end, you can switch the pedal into Buffered Bypass Mode. This pedal can be powered by means of a 9V power supply or a 9V battery. Both the power supply and the batteries are available separately. - Key Features at a Glance
-
- Pitch-shifter pedal with pressure-sensitive footswitch.
- Studio-grade algorithms including polyphonic pitch shifting, whammy-style, octave up, and detune.
- Dual-voice pitch-shifting from unison to two octaves up or down.
- Pressure-sensitive MASH expression/control footswitch bends pitch-shifted notes and is assignable to any parameter of the pedal.
- Craft eccentric pitch effects and customize MASH functionality with free TonePrint Editor software.
- Beam signature tones and artist-made effects into your pedal with the free TonePrint App.
- Simple, easy-to-use controls let you focus on playing.
- Compact format fits on most pedalboards.
- True bypass preserves your tone when pedal is disengaged.
- Works with guitars or can be implemented into effects-loop signals.
- Optional buffered bypass mode prevents high-end loss from long cable runs.
- Analog-dry-thru maintains integrity of analog dry signal path even when the effect is on.
- Four Pitch FX Types
-
- Detune: Rather than shift a voice by a number of semitones, this effect changes the pitch by a few cents, which can then be blended with the dry signal using the Mix knob. This gives a thicker, double-tracked sound to your tone. You can still use the MASH to perform pseudo-bends up 30 cents for V1 and down 30 cents for V2.
- Wham: With the pedal engaged, both Voice knobs will default to the unison setting until MASH is engaged. Engaging MASH will cause each Voice setting to bend gradually up or down toward the selected pitch, similar to classic whammy effects.
- V1-V2: With the pedal engaged, the Voice 1 knob will already be active, assuming it is set to something other than Off. Use the MASH function to shift from the Voice 1 setting to the Voice 2 setting. This can be used to shift seamlessly from an octave up to octave down, change chord tones, or even simulate a B-bender T-style guitar.
- PITCH: Both Voice knobs are always active in this setting as long as the pedal is engaged. You can set one Voice as a harmony (or even a total pitch shift), or set two Voices that are always present. This can be used to simulate a capo by shifting up a few notes, or detune to play songs in flat or drop tunings.
- Controls at a Glance
-
- FX Type Knob: selects among pitch and TonePrint effects.
- Mix Knob: adjusts the balance between dry and pitch-shifted signal.
- Voice 1 Knob: determines the interval of pitch-shifting for Voice 1
- Voice 2 Knob: determines the interval of pitch-shifting for Voice 2
- Up/Down Switches: select whether the voice knob will shift the pitch up or down. You'll find one switch per Voice section.
