Product description Designed to meet the needs of one of rock's most legendary and Canadian bassists, the GED-2112 Geddy Lee Signature SansAmp from Tech 21 is a 1 RU rackmount bass preamp that utilizes two internal analog circuits running in parallel: The Drive preamp section is based on the SansAmp RPM and capable of creating a wide array of tonal characteristics, while the Deep preamp section, which produces low-end boost, thereby engendering thick, meaty sounds. The GED-2112 was conceived to streamline the bevy of gear Geddy typically uses to achieve his multifaceted layered tones, resulting in a single unit that delivers, in Geddy's words, "a deep clean" sonic character with an "edgy crunch."
In lower settings, the unit offers a cleaner sound, while in higher settings, you'll hear more harmonic distortion and the natural squeeze of tube-like compression. You can use either section on its own, blend them externally when routed to a mixing board, or send each to two different amplifiers.
The box provides dual balanced and unbalanced outputs for each preamp section, a semi-parametric EQ, a saturation knob for effecting warmer tones, a parallel effects loop, and a 1/4" pass-through jack to feed uneffected signal to any compatible device. As an added feature, the front panel provides A/B switching, allowing you to keep two basses hooked up to the box on stage, so you can switch instruments seamlessly.
