Product description Dial in a vast range of desirable tones without an amplifier using Tech 21's SansAmp GT2 Preamp Pedal. With the company's proprietary Tube Amplifier Emulation Circuitry and an assortment of easy-to-use controls, the GT2 can effectively - and consistently - deliver a vast range of sought-after tube amp sounds for playing live or recording. The GT2 provides separate Character switches for three amp types (California for Mesa/Boogie-style tones, British for Marshall-style tones, and Tweed for Fender-style tones), three types of amp mods (Hot Wired, Hi Gain, and Clean), and three different mic positions (Off Axis, Center, and Classic) for 27 possible combinations, along with four rotary controls to adjust and fine-tune your Drive, High and Low EQ, and Level. The output of the GT2 can be used to drive a guitar amplifier or go direct to a live mixing console or studio interface for recording, without having to mess around with DI boxes or other converters. While built mainly for guitar, the GT2 can also be used with other instruments, like bass and keyboards. It can even be used to reamp recorded tracks in the studio to add new dimension or fatten up tracks during mixing. Character Switches - Amp
- Each of the three positions affects multiple dimensions of the personality traits inherent to each amplifier type. This switch is not a simple EQ change, nor does it just affect the gain structure. Each amplifier type has its own tonality and its own input sensitivity. Each reacts differently to the dynamics of the player and to the signal level of the instrument
- California: Mesa/Boogie-style
- British: Marshall-style
- Tweed: Fender-style
- Mod
- Influences the gain structure of the amp style selected
- Clean: Stock tube amp emulation
- Hi Gain: Emulates an extra gain stage, as if you were to install an additional 12AX7 tube in the preamp stage
- Hot-Wired: Scoops the mid frequencies for heavy, sizzling, tube-driven tones
- Mic
- Emulates speaker cabinets miked up in an isolated sound chamber. The settings determine the orientation and distance of mic placement in relation to the cabinet
- Classic: Emulates a flat response associated with distant mic, similar to placement on a combo amp loaded with original "blue frame" Jensen-type speakers
- Center: Emulates the peaks and valleys associated with close miking a 4x12 speaker cabinet with Celestion-type speakers at the center of the speaker cone
- Off-Axis: Emulates the peaks and valleys associated with close miking a 4x12 speaker cabinet with Celestion-type speakers slightly off-center from the speaker cone
Control Knobs - Drive
- Adjusts the overall amount of gain and overdrive, similar to when the output section of a tube amp is being pushed
- Low/High EQ Adjustment
- Active tone controls which can boost or cut high and low frequencies to compensate for the limited range of speaker cabinets and combo amps
- Level
- Adjusts the overall output level without altering any of the tonal characteristics
