Product description Designed by Tech 21—the company which brought you SansAmp—the VT Bass 500 is an amplifier head intended for use with electric basses. It provides 500W RMS into 4-Ohm loads, or 300W RMS into 8-Ohm loads. The preamp of this unit is based on SansAmp technology, specifically the SansAmp Character-Series VT Bass DI pedal, giving you a continuously-variable Character control which allows you to approximate the tones of various popular amplifiers. The power amp, on the other hand, gives you class-D circuitry. A Drive control is provided for gain, a bite switch gives you a boost in presence, and active tone controls offer cuts or boosts up to 18 dB in the lows, mids, and highs. If you like the sound of clean, unprocessed tone, a knob lets you blend it in with the amplified signal.Various connection points are provided, including SpeakON jacks for cabinets, as well as an XLR DI output to feed the PA, mixing board, recording interface, and more. A 12 dB pad and ground-lift switch help tailor the DI output to specific scenarios. You’ll also note the effects loop with complementing bypass switch, as well as a headphone jack for private practicing. - Key Features at a Glance
