Product description The Telefunken AR-51 Multi-Pattern Tube Condenser Microphone with Flight Case is an R-F-T Series large-diaphragm, multi-pattern tube condenser mic with a hardshell flight case designed to deliver versatility and full-range frequency reproduction of vocals and instruments for musicians, recordists, and audio engineers in home, project, and commercial recording studios. It features a dual-membrane, edge-terminated capsule with nine polar patterns—omnidirectional, cardioid, figure-8, and six intermediate options. An NOS ECC81 twin-triode vacuum tube and Haufe T14/1 output transformer contribute to the AR-51's tone, which draws inspiration from the classic C12 and ELA M 251E microphones. Its 20 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response and maximum SPL of 128 dB enable it to handle anything from soft vocals and delicate piano to pounding drums.The AR-51, its external power supply, proprietary 7-pin cable, and shockmount fit securely in the high-density foam interior of the rugged flight case, which is lockable, airtight, and waterproof up to a 3' depth. An automatic pressure equalization valve in the case ensures proper pressure at a variety of altitudes. - AR-51 Multi-Pattern Tube Condenser Microphone The AR-51 Multi-Pattern Tube Condenser Microphone from Telefunken provides a smooth mid-range, open top end, and a well-balanced low-frequency translation that make it a great choice on anything from vocals to drums to acoustic guitar and even saxophone.
The AR-51 features the TK51D capsule, a 34mm dual-membrane, edge-terminated design. This larger surface area provides an extended low end and a smoother, more open high end. This capsule brings the AR-51 sonically closer to the revered sound of the edge-terminated CK12 capsule. Additionally, the AR-51 takes the amplifier electronics of the C12 and ELA M 251E microphones. The core of this amplifier is a NOS ECC81 vacuum tube, which is coupled with the same German-built output transformer as the C12 and the ELA M 251E.
The remote pattern selector, located on the power supply, provides 9 different polar patterns, giving the user a myriad of choices for how to record the source sound in a manner that will best complement their production. - Quality Beyond Its Price Point
