Product description Designed for businesses that need reliable enterprise-class storage with scalability and fast transfer speed for data storage, the N16910SAS 16-Bay NAS Enclosure from Thecus has a 3 RU form factor and is equipped with 16 x 3.5" drive bays that can natively accommodate SAS-3 (12 Gb/s), SAS-2 (6 Gb/s), SATA III (6 Gb/s), and SATA II (3 Gb/s) hard drives. It is powered by a 3.5 GHz Intel Xeon E3-1245 v5 Quad-Core processor and 16GB of DDR4 ECC RAM, which comes in a 2 x 8GB configuration and can be upgraded to 64GB by using a 16GB module in each of the four memory slots.
The N16910SAS runs on ThecusOS 7.0, which provides an intuitive and user-friendly interface that is easy to navigate. The control panel has five main categories: Control, Privilege, Storage, Services, and Backup, all of which let users control various aspects of this NAS. Network connectivity is achieved via two RJ45 ports, allowing your stored data to be shared with users throughout the network, including mobile devices, using services such as T-OnTheGo and PLEX Media Server.
This NAS also serves as a centralized backup target for computers in your network. Using the bundled Acronis True Image backup software, users will be able to back up all of their data, or pick and choose their most important files and folders. Also supported is a variety of RAID modes, including RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50, and 60, each of which provides performance, data redundancy, or a combination of both. For those who do not require RAID support, JBOD is also supported. Select RAID modes also support how-swap, hot spare, RAID level migration, RAID expansion, and AES 256-bit volume encryption.
For those who need to connect external peripherals to this NAS, it has been built with four USB 3.0 Type-A ports, two USB 2.0 Type-A ports, two PS/2 ports, one HDMI port, one DVI port, one VGA port, five 3.5mm audio jacks, and one S/PDIF jack. One PCIe x8 slot, one PCIe x4 slot, and one PCIe x1 slot allows for peripherals such as 10GbE cards, and overall device power is provided using dual redundant 500W power supplies. If you need to expand the overall device storage, up to four D16000 JBOD units can be daisy-chained using the SFF-8644 port. Included is an accessory bag, an Ethernet cable, a power cord, and sliding shelves. Protection is provided by a limited 5-year warranty. General Features - High Availability (HA)
- High Availability actively keeps your data on two separate, yet identical NAS devices. If one NAS needs maintenance, the other will take its place, helping to ensure that your data is available.
- PLEX Media Server
- The PLEX Media Server is the entertainment center for digital media systems. The free server is a module available on the Thecus App Center that allows you to set up and manage your media. With the PLEX Media Server installed on your Thecus NAS, various devices on your network, such as your Xbox 360 and mobile devices, can connect to and stream your local and online media.
- Snapshot Backup
- With BTRFS support, Thecus NAS users can enjoy the simplicity of snapshot backups. Through BTRFS subvolumes, snapshots of data at various time points can be manually or automatically made and later restored to rollback files or recover entire folders in previous states.
- Disk Clone and Wipe
- Disk Clone allows users to copy the entire contents of a disk to one or many other disks, while Disk Wipe allows for volume data destruction.
- VPN Server
- A VPN Server allows users to remotely access a secure network. With VPNs, businesses will be able to utilize a cost-effective, scalable, and secured network infrastructure for their client base.
- 10GbE Ready
- High-end data centers often need a level of speed that today's average internet cannot provide. This Thecus NAS is 10Gb Ethernet ready to help satisfy the toughest needs of today and tomorrow.
- USB 3.0 Connectivity
- The next generation of connectivity is here with speeds 10x faster than USB 2.0. Whether connecting digital cameras and smart phones, backing up large external hard drives, or extending the capacity of your NAS, USB 3.0 will help get it done at speeds up to 5 Gb/s. Backwards compatibility adds connectivity for USB 2.0 and 1.1 devices.
- Acronis True Image
- Acronis' backup software helps back up your data with one-click protection, or pick and choose only your most important files. Acronis sports an interface with a user-friendly design, and comprehensive features to keep your data safe.
- Multiple RAID
- When it comes to data management, Thecus NAS truly lets you create multiple RAID volumes, with each supporting different RAID modes, including RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50, 60, and JBOD for a balance of performance and data protection. Should a hard drive malfunction occur, changing one is simple thanks to online RAID migration and expansion, hot spare, and auto rebuild.
- Multiple File Systems
- Support for multiple file systems, including EXT4, Btrfs, and XFS gives your Thecus NAS flexibility to handle many different types of environments. Users can simultaneously use different file systems across multiple RAID volumes to get the best of each one.
- iSCSI Thin Provisioning
- Get the most out of your storage space with the speed of iSCSI and the efficiency of iSCSI thin provisioning. Connect through iSCSI for fast data transfer speeds and lessen wasted disk space with thin provisioning's flexible storage functionality.
- iOS/Android Connectivity
- In the modern world, it is important to be able to reach your data no matter where you are. With T-OnTheGo, you can manage your NAS and upload to and download/stream from your NAS using an iOS or Android device.
- Rsync
- Backing up your data is very necessary, and everyone has specific needs when it comes to storage. Thecus' Rsync functionality gives users flexibility with remote backup capability, a flexible scheduler, and the stability of Linux-based transfer.
- User Quota
- Divide the massive storage of a Thecus NAS among multiple users. Whether there are two users or 100, user quotas make it easy to divvy up and manage disk space.
- PCIe Slots
- Thecus NAS products are ready for a number of emerging technologies. Through the built-in PCIe slot, business users can add a 10Gb Ethernet adapter for faster transfer speeds, or a USB 3.0 adapter card to enjoy 5 Gb/s connectivity.
