Combining a PCIe 3.0 x4 SSD with a 10 Gb/s Thunderbolt aluminum enclosure, the JetDrive 855 is a fast and portable storage solution for select Thunderbolt-equipped Apple systems such as the MacBook Air, MacBook Pro with Retina Display, Mac mini, and Mac Pro. The drive uses 3D NAND flash memory and is bus powered via Thunderbolt connectivity, meaning that no external power sources are required. Furthermore, the JetDrive can be used not only for storing documents, photos, music, and videos, but also delivers real-time performance for professional tasks, video editing, and 3D graphics with read and write speeds of up to 1600 and 1400 MB/s respectively.
In addition to serving as external storage, the PCIe SSD can be removed from its external enclosure and installed within select Mac systems. To accomplish this, T5 and P5 screwdrivers are included. If you'd like to upgrade your Mac Pro or Mac mini, you'll require additional, separately available screwdrivers. Rubber feet are included in the package and protection is provided by a limited 5-year warranty. Note: Please note that the warranty does not apply when the JetDrive Toolbox's wear-out indicator displays 0% within the warranty coverage.
