Product description Designed by Trident Audio, the A-Range is a dual channel 19" rackmount preamp for microphones and instruments, either balanced or unbalanced. Each channel sports a four-band EQ, as well as individual input and output controls, polarity switches, high- and low-pass filters, pre- and post- insert points (for external compressors and the like), and 48V phantom power. Additionally, the A-Range features a discrete design both in its microphone and line-level preamps.
To be sure, this unit offers a plethora of useful features—LED peak-level indicators at key points in the signal chain, for example. However, perhaps the most important distinction of the A-Range is its lineage: this unit has been built to the exact specifications of the A-Range console famously designed by Trident Studios, and heard on classic records by Elton John, Stevie Wonder, and David Bowie. Now, its preamp and EQ section are available in rackmount form. - Connectivity Options
- This unit features XLR and 1/4" inputs and outputs. Its insert points, however, are strictly 1/4".
- Balanced/Unbalanced
- The Line input is able to handle balanced and unbalanced instruments. The 1/4" output jack boasts an balanced/unbalanced push-switch.
- Insert Points
- After hitting the A-Range, route straight to your favorite piece of output geared either before or after the EQ stage; this is up to you.
- EQ sliders
- Pick a frequency with the given stepped knobs, then dial in the amount you wish to boost or attenuate with its corresponding slider. You get 15 dB of gain on either direction.
