Product description Designed by Trident Audio, this pair of HG3 Near-Field Three-Way Monitors has been designed to mitigate—and, in some cases, eliminate—common issues found in many near-field two-way monitors, including low-frequency Doppler distortion, phase cancellation, inter-modulation distortion, cabinet resonances, limited dispersion and bandwidth, and edge-diffraction. A combination of a ported subwoofer and an electronic roll-off filter provides low-frequencies that don't introduce phase cancellation at crossover points or excite unhelpful room nodes. Furthermore, the design of its midrange speaker and silk-dome tweeter allow you to position critical directional components in way that befits your unique scenario, while mid and tweeter level controls allow for even more control in person-to-person, room-to-room situations. To eliminate problems, inconsistencies, and distortions commonly caused by amplifier interdependence, three separate MOS amplifier modules power the HG3s. Additionally, these monitors provide connectivity options for XLR, TRS, and RCA operations—in many cases, both balanced and unbalanced—while power/distortion LEDs indicate that your monitors are on, and also, whether or not you're approaching a level of distortion. - Notable Features
-
- 3-Way design addresses stereo imaging and off-axis response issues inherent in many 2-way monitors
- Subwoofer provides smooth response down to 35 Hz
- MOS amplifiers in subwoofers offer distortion-free power
- Ported outside active speaker components provide freedom from Doppler distortion at low frequencies
- Omnidirectional bass response at 90 Hz
- Controlled electronic roll-off below speaker's usable response eliminates uncontrolled woofer movement and port noise
- Crossover points at 320 Hz and 3.5 kHz aid in eliminating midrange modulation
- Midrange speaker mounted in an isolated cylinder to eliminate edge-diffraction and woofer/cabinet resonance interactions
