Product description Designed for electric guitarists and bassists looking to make their rig a little more mobile, the Torpedo C.A.B. from Two Notes is a digital impulse-response loader in a stombox form factor. It’s not a Loadbox, but it does provide an emulated tube-stage power output, a few post-effects, a slew of emulated guitar and bass cabinets, and virtual microphones, which can be swapped and positioned to your liking.Indeed, 32 cabinets are provided in all, as well as eight microphones and four tube-modelled power stages in push-pull or single-ended configurations. The device can be used as a digital alternative to miking your cabinet on stage or in the studio, and as a means to put a plethora of cabinets at your disposal for experimentation. The input stage of the pedal can be used with your existing rig of stompboxes or with your instrument itself, and sports a switch to select between instrument and line-level signals. Likewise, the output stage boasts a toggle switch for selecting between line and amp level. The unit’s two footswitches are user-assignable, so you can customize the operations they achieve.A display screen gives you readouts on what configuration you’re currently running, while preset/parameter and level/value encoders allow for basic editing functions from the pedal itself. However, the Torpedo C.A.B. also ships with the Torpedo Remote System software that provides a clear and intuitive interface, giving you extensive control over the stompbox. Through this software, you can load/save presets, load new impulse responses, audition additional speaker cabinets from the Two Notes store, and more. To accommodate both beginners and seasoned experimenters, the software provides two different operational modes: Arcade mode, which is for novice users, and Simulation mode, which allows for comprehensive customization of the C.A.B.’s parameters.A temperature fan ensures that heat is efficiently dissipated, with an automatic warning and a failsafe built-in to the unit, should you exceed specific temperatures. A power cord is provided and a compatible USB cable for your convenience. - Connections
- The Torpedo C.A.B. sits on your pedalboard, after a preamp, and among your usual stompboxes. The best results are achieved by placing it before the time-based and modulation effects (chorus, delay, reverb…), which then will become brighter and clearer. This position also allows you to take advantage of the possible stereo of these effects.
- 2 Assignable Footswitches
- The Torpedo C.A.B. features 2 user-assignable footswitches. Assignable functions include preset selection, bypass, mute, EQ on/off, and more.
- Emulated Tube-Stage Output
- When using guitar/bass preamplifiers with conventional power amps, players often get their sound from a particular use of its tube complement. To replicate this feel, Two Notes has developed a tube-stage modeling that gives you a choice of 4 different tube models (6L6, EL34, EL84 and KT88) in AB-class Push-Pull (PP) or A-class Single Ended (SE) configurations. You can push this tube stage like a conventional amplifier, achieving for that subtle kind of distortion. You'll also note pentode and triode modes, as well as settings for volume, presence, and depth.
- Mic Emulations
- Provided are eight microphones emulated and optimized for use with the virtual cabinets. You can also virtually position these microphones, changing their distance from the cabinet, the axis, and whether or not it sits in front of or behind the cabinet. You'll also note the five-band EQ and reverb provided, the latter of which provides the sonic characteristics of eight different rooms.
- Post Effects
- When recording guitars and basses it is common to apply a few effects to shape the sound before it is sent to the house PA or your recording interface. To assist in this task, the Torpedo C.A.B ships with an EQ and a reverb.
- MIDI Implementation
- The Torpedo C.A.B can be controlled by MIDI messages, accepting both program changes (for changing presets) and control changes (for controlling parameters). The controlling device, hooked into the Torpedo C.A.B.'s 5-pin DIN MIDI input jack, can be a foot controller, a keyboard, or a computer.
- Torpedo Remote System
- The Torpedo Live includes a remote software application called Torpedo Remote. This software provides a clear and intuitive interface, giving you access to all the parameters on your Torpedo. These include loading/saving presets, loading new IRs, and updating the unit's firmware. You can also try out additional speaker cabinets from the Two Notes store, preview them on your own tracks in real time, and choose to buy the ones you prefer.
