Product description Taking much of the Torpedo Reload’s technology and shrinking it into a much smaller form factor, the Torpedo Captor from Two Notes is a 100W reactive loadbox suitable for use with tube amplifiers, mitigating the need for using a cabinet. This particular model is intended to be paired with amplifiers outputting signal at four Ohms, and it can be used on stage, in the studio, or at home for silent/quiet practicing. It provides a rotary control for output level, a button to invert the polarity of your signal, and a ground/lift switch to eliminate hum on the XLR DI output, if hum is a problem you should run into. This box can be used with both guitar and bass amplifiers. On the stage, you can use the Captor as a sort of DI box for your amplifier, obviating the need to mic your existing cabinet, or allowing you to forego lugging the cabinet to the gig altogether. It can do this with the help of its onboard analog speaker simulation, taken from Two Notes’ Le Preamp series; this simulation can be toggled between guitar- and bass-cabinet voicings, or be left off entirely. If you choose to use your own cabinet, you can feed it with signal attenuated -20 dB by the device. Thus, you can drive your amp as loudly as you would like, but route your cabinet with signal low enough for only you to hear. If you choose to ditch the cabinet, the FOH engineer can patch the cabinet-simulated into your monitoring system.In the studio, this box can be used to interface directly with a preamp or recording device. You can even use Torpedo Wall of Sound III software to emulate microphones and mic placement once you’re in the digital realm. At home, you can use the Torpedo Captor to attenuate your cabinet, or you can monitor silently, with the amp simulation on or off, via the line output.Connections abound, including a 1/4" speaker input, a 1/4" THRU output, a 1/4" attenuated output, a 1/4" line output, and a XLR DI output. The Torpedo Captor's speaker simulation is active, meaning it requires power. Luckily you can use phantom power via the XLR output, or conversely, you can plug a compatible power supply into the front of the unit. - Reactive Loadbox
- Playing silently or at low volumes is often a requirement, especially at home, though this is increasingly the case on the stage or in studio and home-studio settings. For various reasons, to play your own amplifier without a cabinet, it's often recommended to use a Loadbox. The Torpedo Captor offers this in a low-profile form factor, utilizing a reactive design which faithfully imitates a four-Ohm speaker, allowing the amp to work exactly as if it was connected to a cabinet.
- Analog Speaker Simulation
- Useful for feeding an authentic guitar tone from your amplifier to the house PA, the Torpedo Captor provides an analog speaker simulation derived from Two-Tones Le Preamp series. With this simulation, you'll be able to achieve a detailed and focused sound for the monitors or the FOH system while maintaining a low volume on stage.
- Convenient Form Factor
- The Captor is the size of a large DI box, so you can conveniently place it on your pedalboard or on top of your amp.
- On-Board Attenuation
- If you wish to stay connected to a speaker cabinet on stage, the Captor features a direct speaker THRU or ATT output. This allows for transfer of dry signal at either full volumes or at a fixed -20 dB attenuation. Thus, you can keep your amp in its sweet spot while at manageable volumes.
- Included 16-Cabinet License for Wall of Sound III
- Included with the pedal is a license for 16 virtual cabinets for use with Wall of Sound III, a speaker and microphone-placement emulation plugin. This plugin works in DAWs such as Cubase, Logic Pro X, Pro Tools, and more. Using this software, you can recreate the full complement of a guitar sound, from the preamp of the pedal to the 16 cabinet responses usable in Wall of Sound III.
