Product description Operating on the 5 GHz frequency band, the AF-5U airFiber High-Band 5 GHz Carrier Class Point-to-Point Gigabit Radio from Ubiquiti Networks offers point to point connectivity at long distances of over 62 miles (100 kilometers). This enhanced coverage provides a reliable backhaul connection which is an essential part of many building-to-building enterprise network configurations. With a dual-antenna architecture, 2x2 MIMO functionality separates the transmit and receive data streams allowing for increased bandwidth and a more reliable connection. Setup of this PtP Gigabit radio is simple thanks to the airFiber Configuration Interface which can be installed by a single network tech. Once installed, 12 dedicated LED indicators make it easy to see the status of various aspects of the network including data port link/activity, data port speed, management port link/activity, and much more. - Wireless Technology
-
- Point-to-point wireless platform
- Housed in a compact, highly efficient form factor
- Delivers wireless gigabit+ performance with low latency
- xRT feature uses an adaptive multi-channel coding scheme to enhance radio transceiver performance, while still maintaining regulatory compliance
- Supports long range communication up to 62+ miles
- Operates in license-free, high-band 5 GHz frequencies
- Worldwide license-free operation
- Delivers gigabit performance at 1.0+ Gb/s
- Suitable for carrier backhaul, building-to-building enterprise use, or public safety applications
- Synchronous Data Transmission and Reception
-
- Transmits data synchronously without any wait time
- Uses traditional TDD and FDD modes of operation
- Features the proprietary Hybrid Division Duplexing (HDD) mode for long range and spectral efficiency performance
- HDD technology calculates the propagation delay for synchronous transmissions and eliminate packet transmission latency
- Based on the ranging algorithm built into the air protocol
- Dual-Antenna Architecture
-
- Features a dual-independent, 2x2 MIMO, high-gain reflector antenna system
- Separate transmit and receive antennas eliminates the extra RF losses caused by the switches or duplexers
- Includes a mechanical back‑plane that is constructed as a one-piece monocoque molding
- Single‑piece, injection‑molded architecture
- Network Management
-
- Network management option between the greater security of out‑of-band management and the convenience of in-band management
- Full SNMP support for network management
- Local and remote status information available on the main tab of the airFiber configuration interface
- Processing
-
- Proprietary INVICTUS core communications processing engine
- Features 1 MHz center channel resolution with Power Envelope Tracking technology
- Accurately and continuously controls transmit power relative to the band edge
- Power level automatically tracks to optimize performance near band edges, allowing you to choose the part of the band with the least interference
- Radio Alignment Display
-
- Radio Alignment Display (RAD) makes aiming quicker and easier
- Dual, calibrated signal strength indicators display the actual signal strength on the local and remote airFiber radios in real time
- Displays information about GPS synchronization status, master/slave mode, RF link status, RF overload warning, current modulation mode, and link activity and speed for wired management and data ports
- Installation
-
- Based on Ubiquiti’s airOS
- Enables quick deployment
- Sliding-clamp design allows mounting hardware to be pre‑assembled prior to installation
- Drop‑in cradle mount design allows the installer to attach mounting hardware to the pole without having to support the weight of the airFiber radio during installation
