Product description The Orchestral Strings I Full Virtual Instrument Library by Vienna Symphonic Library is a collection of orchestral string samples from esteemed international concert musicians. The 14-chair violin ensemble recorded for this collection is headed by Christian Eisenberger who has worked with conductors such as Martha Argerich, Claudio Abbado, Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Gideon Kremer, Herbert von Karajan, Roger Norrington, Kent Nagano, Andras Schiff, Murray Perahia, and Georg Solti among others. The 10-chair viola ensemble is lead by Anett Homoki, a member of both the Vienna Chamber Philharmonic and the Volksoper Vienna.
All of the instruments in the collection offer a variety of articulations such as performance trills, legato, portamento, tremolo, staccato, marcato, and spiccato among others. The violins can perform glissandos on the same strings and you can control legato, bow vibrato, portato, staccato, spiccato, harsh, upbeat, and pizzicato repetitions. The violins can also do muted legato, portato, and staccato performances. Legato, spiccato, major, minor, chromatic, and whole tone runs are also possible.
Among the articulations for single notes the collection can play short staccato, staccato, cresendos, diminuendos, pizzicatos, multiple trills, col legno, con sordino, sul ponticello, artificial harmonics, 4 variations of short detache, and 4 variations of long detache. For long notes you can do espressivo, flautando, and sustains with and without vibrato.
The library contains 35 GB of uncompressed samples at 44.1 kHz 24-bit resolution. The software utilizes a special optimization algorithm to decompress the samples in real time so that only 24 GB of space is needed to store the samples on your hard drive.
