Product description You will be surprised at the images you will get when your older analog TV is connected to the AT-163 ATSC Digital TV Converter Box and Media Player from ViewTV. In many instances, you'll be able to receive stations that are available on cable, satellite, and conventional analog TV broadcasts. It also allows you to connect sold separately hard drives so you can record all your favorite shows. With the program guide, now you can see what's coming up and never miss a show. The unit ships with a remote control too. - Convert your digital broadcast to your analog TV and analog pass through (Antenna required and limited QAM/Cable capability). While this device does have full QAM/Cable capability, it is not currently officially supported due to incompatibility issues with some cable providers. If you are purchasing this device solely for QAM/Cable capability, it will work only with decrypted channels. Older TV's with analog tuners will not allow you to watch one channel and record another with this device. It may not work with all cable providers

Passport external drive. The Drive is password protected and the data is encrypted.
Will this drive work with the AT-163? If I enter the password once, will the unit remember the password? Will the encryption-decryption significantly slow down the record/play back process?
If so what brand and model external hard drive to you suggest? I'm looking for 1 to 2 TB
