Product description Designed specifically for their FL55SS telescopes, the Vixen Optics Field Flattener/Focal Reducer Kit combines two essential accessories that improve your astrophotography or imaging. - Focal Reducer for FL55SS Telescope This Vixen Optics Focal Reducer is purpose-built to speed up the focal ratio of the FL55SS telescope from an f/5.5 to an even faster f/4.3. Using the focal reducer during astrophotography with the optical tube allows you to use shorter exposure times without dimming the image, lowering image quality, or introducing additional signal noise. It has a 3-element/3-group lens design with high-transmission anti-reflection optical coatings to boost light transmission to over 98% to improve overall image brightness and sharpness. Not intended to be used by itself, it is designed to be used in combination with an additional accessory, such as a wide photo adapter 60DX, which is available separately.
- f/5.7 Field Flattener HD Kit for FL55SS Telescope Designed specifically for their FL55SS refractor telescope, the Vixen Optics f/5.7 Field Flattener virtually eliminates spherical aberration in the objective lens system, especially at the edges. Uncorrected, this aberration causes blurry, defocused, and distorted areas in astrophotography or CCD images. The optics on the field flattener are fully multi-coated allowing greater than 96% transmission across its 44mm diameter imaging circle. The included extension ring provides the correct backfocus distance while offering threads for optional camera-specific T-rings to connect cameras and imaging systems.
