Product description The Model 553 Berlebach 2-Way Tilt Head with Quick Release is an Arca-type compatible 2-way pan and tilt head which utilizes friction adjustment to simulate the movement of a traditional fluid head. Capable of supporting up to 13 lb, it can be an ideal choice for those shooting on DSLRs, mirrorless, or mid-size camcorders. As long as the 553 is sitting on a level base, its load capacity and range of motion make it an interesting choice for both still photographers and amateur film makers.
In terms of movement, the 553 is a basic 2-way head capable of both a vertical 90° friction-controlled tilt and 360° panning with an independent lock. Both motions are controlled via a long, video-style, control handle which has been thoughtfully equipped with an adjustment switch to enable "load pick-up" function. This unique feature engages a spring within the 553 which offers greater resistance when tilting, preventing cameras which weigh in excess of 6.6 lb from tilting far enough to strike the tripod collar.
The top of the 553 head is equipped with the model 150 quick release clamp which is designed to accept Arca-type and UniQ camera plates. It features a standard knob-controlled clamp and a push-button safety release which may be used with compatible plates. Additionally, the head features a customizable left or right handed control arm and a built-in bubble level.
