• Polarie Star Tracker The Polarie Star Tracker from Vixen Optics is an incredibly compact, motorized, tracking mount. The smooth and sleek, visually attractive Polarie attaches to a standard camera tripod with a ball head on one side and a DSLR or smaller camera on the other up to 7 pounds. Point the Polarie north with the integrated compass, use the alignment window by pointing it at Polaris, the North Star, or use an optional polar scope. Star trails and false fuzzies are eliminated in the time exposures of the attached camera as the Polarie tracks the motion of the stars across the celestial dome. Two user-supplied AA batteries can power the unit for ~4 hours or an optional external power supply (not included) can be used. Although, not waterproof, the Polarie is designed to function in most weather conditions. It weighs in at less than an incredible 1½ lbs and is about the size of a paperback book. This is one cool astrophotography star tracker.

  • The stepping pulse motor of the Polarie has an exceptionally precise movement utilizing a wheel gear of 57.6mm diameter aluminum alloy axis with a full-circle of 144-teeth. The worm gear has a 9mm diameter made from high tension brass and has 2-piece bearings.

• Polar Fine Adjustment Unit Purpose-built for the Polarie Star Tracker system, Vixen Optics' Polar Fine Adjustment Unit allows you to precisely align your Polarie for better tracking and sharper imaging. This unit mounts on any 1/4"-20 or 3/8"-16 tripod head, and the Polarie mounts onto the included 1/4"-20 quick release plate on top of it. With the unit in-place, you are able to make minute adjustments to the orientation of the Polarie's polar alignment, with one rotation of the thumb screws moving it 5.7 degrees and a total adjustment range of ±15 degrees. The Polar Fine Adjustment Unit has a payload capacity of 15.4 pounds, so it can easily handle the Polarie plus larger DSLR and lens systems.
• Polarie Tripod for Polarie Star Tracker Designed to maximize the usability of their Polarie Star Tracker, the Vixen Optics Polarie Tripod includes two ball heads - one that goes on the tripod and another for the Polarie tracker. The tripod has four leg sections with working heights from 22" to 72.5" to accommodate a wide range of users, with adjustable leg angles for compensating for rough and uneven terrain. A single control handle can be extended or retracted with a crank, and a friction-lock enables you to perfectly align and position your camera and mount without backlash or settling. Its 6.6-pound payload capacity can easily handle the Polarie and most DSLRs with lenses. Weighing in at 4.7 pounds, it offers a steady platform for your wide-field imaging, and with its 10" folded length, it's easy to store and transport.
