Product description The handmade Replica of Isaac Newton's Original 70mm f/4 Reflector Telescope is a functional conversation piece recreated by Vixen Optics for those who appreciate history, science, astronomy, and craftsmanship. This is a limited edition piece and makes a special addition to any collection.It is a fully operational telescope that hearkens back to an important era in astronomy when Sir Isaac Newton completely redesigned the telescope using mirrors instead of the conventional refractor-style lenses. The optical tube is made of aluminum with an antiqued varnish finish to give it an aged vintage appearance. It has a 70mm f/4 aperture for viewing the moon and planets, and comes with two eyepieces that produce a low 14x and a high 28x magnification.The unique alt-azimuth desktop mount uses an ash wood globe set in a matching pedestal with metal brackets that allows you to move and position the telescope in any position for easy viewing and tracking. The telescope and mount come wrapped in waxed parchment paper in a custom wood box for safe transport and storage.
